The last two CL winning managers have been the previous years losing finalist.

If Pep doesn't win the CL next year then he might as jump off a bridge.

Don't worry, he won't die. Not on the first attempt anyways.

And the bald fraud claims are back

Yeah I am curious how the players are handling it and if those doubts on his methods will start to creep in. Looking at the game itself, I think sure, no DM but more importantly for me, going four at the back did not do them any favors but it is deeper than that.

KdB sold, Mahrez pressed like a headless chicken, Sterling let James pocket him all match. So many City players sold and let the occasion get to them, for the umpteenth time. They lack leaders, experience and know-how and so many of the intangibles of unity and togetherness that I think speaks to the deeper problems at City.

It is reflective of the pitfalls of their club model as a whole: a bunch of mercenaries still coming to terms with a philosophy that is foreign and requires such a collective effort. There really are levels to this shit and as much as we all hate Chelsea, they had so many youth products on that pitch last night. Plus, Chelsea have had their growing pains too and had to lose in much more bitter fashion before climbing the mountain. It is the same thing that is happening at PSG, whenever they get tested by a team of equal quality, they crumble, just City is a more complete project.

I love him to bits but nights like last night make it clear he needs to learn how to win games without complete control and how to win an open match. Between that and not changing things for the sake of changing them in a 50-50 match, he is going to keep running into these problems.

Gutted for him but he might need a new challenge soon and not necessarily here.

Probably the bitterness talking, but I'm delighted about how the match ended.

I find most of Chelea's current players likable and easy to root for. Pep eating a generous portion of humble pie... glorious. If Tuchel leaves Chelsea Laporta might do well to get in touch with his advisors and friends and whatnot. Signal to him that he's a priority for Barca.

Unfortunately, those guys at Chelsea know very well they struck gold and I can see him being there for years.

You don't attract these managers waiting with your dick in your hand like that idiot Bartomeu did for 5+ years. It's years of work and building connections with them.

Well said. But I don't like Guardiola except when he is managing us or beating our rivals.

Tuchel is a complete manager though and while not as revolutionary, he has a lot of things going for him. Chelsea did much more last night than defended. They can keep the ball, get into technical and complex combinations as well. City were kind of outplayed if you ask me.

It's not only about the players. Most of these Chelsea players were debutants at this level. Tuchel prepared them better. It helped him that they were underdogs and the pressure was more on City, but... he owned Guardiola in this key match.

2012: Heynckes lost final
2013: UCL win

2018: Klopp lost final
2019: UCL win

2021: Pep lost final
2022: If you know what i mean......

2020 Tuchel Lost final
2021: UCL win.

Conclusion: German coach wins it in 2nd try, Spanish however aren't related to such observation.
Sadly for Pep, he was born Spanish

Tuchel and Pep see the game very similarly in all honesty and there is no question that Tuchel outclassed Pep. But in a lot of ways, Pep is the creator of his own demise. His two biggest nemesis now (Klopp and Tuchel) take his own pressing principles and turn it right back at him and that is what I mean by learning how to deal with open matches. When you got two teams pressing the shit out of each other like that, you either need to really shift your numbers ball-side and try and overload the ball or you play longer. And his obsession with control gets him in trouble sometimes. He has to learn a bit from Lucho and develop some counter attack methods and have better solutions from an attacking method off a transition. I still see City do the same thing we used to do where they slow down transition attacks just to try and pin the other team back and especially with how comfortable teams are now sitting in deep blocks, that is hurting him offensively.

With Tuchel, I have always liked him to be honest and has been showing this class since his time at Dortmund. I was skeptical of whether or not his ideas could work with a squad that was recently assembled when he came to Chelsea but what he has done is impressive. His teams hold the ball really well, know how to create spaces against deep blocks, a lot of the things we need and I am happy for him considering how things went for him at PSG.

Plus I will say it again for the umpteenth time here that 3 back systems really seem to be coming back with vengeance right now and his 343 really is something nasty. So balanced, flexible and dynamic and while we need to be able to play a strong 433 again, we really need to consider how we can use a similar sort of shape here.

Why do you think Pep's way is outdated?

He was a bit out of form it looked like, but the way the match developed, I think he might've been needed and decisive in the end.
There were maybe five or six low crosses delivered that were just a bit too weak...

Yeah, let's see if Chelsea will be favourites to win the league next season, and if they'll be able to do it...
That they're good enough to be able to beat City in one game is clear, they would be under Lampard as well.

This is the second CL Final that was decided by an ugly foul committed by a strong and dirty defensive player.
Sergio Ramos did it to Salah in 2018 and R?diger did it to KDB yesterday.
In both cases the defensive player continued playing while the losing team's best player was out and severely hurt.

I don't want to accuse Tuchel of planning R?diger's action, but it certainly helped his team win.

Something should be done to prevent a repeat. Red cards are given for two yellow cards, sometimes relatively mild violations, but both Ramos and R?diger were allowed to complete the match and to lift the trophy.
