Anyone think that the bayern job is a poison chalice? If he wins the Bundesliga it's not going to be seen as a major achievement... On top of that bayern have been to 2 of the last 3 CL finals.
I think that it will be tougher than most people think(especially because it looks like Bayern will win at least a major title this year), but that doesn't mean that if he only wins the Bundesliga in his first year then he would have failed(and I think that even the Special One would tell us that winning a league in consecutive years is not as easy as it seems, even when you have a 500 M euros squad at your disposal and the best player in the world). Reaching the top is hard, but staying there is twice as difficult(and that's why the 2010-2011 season will always be special for me).
Basically only winning the CL will prove his worth at the club, his tenure will be largely seen as a failure should he fail to secure the trophy, similar to Mou's tenure at Madrid ( if the trophy continues to elude him at Madrid. )
First of all just because Mou didn't win the CL with RM until now, it doesn't meen that he failed. He was beatten by the the best team that I have ever seen in the first season and lost at penalties in his 2nd(and with a team that didn't reached the QFs for 6 consecutive years before him). Mou certainly didn't had the same succes at RM as Pep had with us, but he also didn't failed as much as Mancini did at City. And the madridistas should be thankfull to him only because he leaves behind players like Ozil, Khedira, Varane or a Cristiano that learned how to be a team player. And second of all, the CL is a competition where every single detail(like the ref giving you a hand or your best player missing a penalty or a volcano making you travel by bus from Barcelona to Milano) matters. What we should always demand from coaches like Mou is to be competitive in the league&the CL until April(and win one of them if possible) and until this season I think that he did just that.
