I agree! It should be merited, and only given to a player who can live up to the expectations that the #10 carries. Anything else is just setting Coutinho (or whomever wears it) up for failure. Perhaps that?s the plan? Haha

The biggest NBA teams have far more numbers retired then lesser NBA teams.

I can only repeat myself, Messi has the GOAT (one) club career and his number 10 with FC Barcelona should never be used again.
