Not the best choice, but certainly not the worst either. Would be a 7/10 appointment. There is some form of evolution and conception in the Nederlands side under him.

At least with Koeman you can be certain that Club de Amigos will be shut down for good. No way in hell someone like him will let anyone, whether it is the players or someone from the board dictate what he does.

So there are definitely some positives even though I don't like the overall package.

It's pretty obvious Bartomeu and co. have already decided to hire Koeman. He recently bought another apartment in downtown Barcelona. He has a Barcelona clause in his contract and he said the other day that Barcelona is the only team he'll leave the Dutch NT for.

Will probably be another disappointing hire, although if he can root out the seniors and make it easier for Xavi or whoever takes over post 2021 it'll be okay I guess.

When ?

Soon or in the summer ?

There is not much better option to replace Shitverde at this moment anyways.
If we go for Erik ten Hag one day, I hope we get him before Bayern.

You don't like him as in tactically he is not right, or why? Because if he is a leader and he doesn't take any shit, and is also competent on top of that, this is already a serious improvement over Valverde.

I haven't seen his teams play too much.

Most likely going to be a 2 + 1 years deal IMO. Which means the next board will have the power to decide if they want to move on from him after two years or not. Unless he wins the CL or actually build a team that doesn't get shat on in the CL I don't see him staying past a new board.

New Board will come midway of summer 2021. Doubt the first decision they will take is to fire a coach who is a club legend and just sacrificed his NT coaching job for this job. Not when most coaches already settled some where else and we are looking for remaining parts. Unless someone is crazy enough to give it to Xavi directly from Qatar. 2022 will be the earliest to move on from Koeman.

Koeman was the Ten Haag of his era. Rebuilt Ajax team from scratch and built a young dominant side that Europeans elite couldn't wait to get their stars. Although he worked with some big egos/head cases like Ibra/Mido etc. They played beautiful football too.
Things went down from there (one of the main reasons I am not excited about Ten Haag, the original version didn't look great later) But bounced back in Eredivisie again and looked good, then Southampton and looked good. Then Everton and looked bad, then National team and looked great again.
He plays a more balanced football which I think is good. Closer to Rijkaard/LVG than Pep which I actually think fits us perfectly. I think this is Barca's real football and Pep's was more of an anomaly that won't happen again.
But he isn't sustainable, he has a lot of his selections etc wrong. He is also far from being a player friendly coach, and he always loses his relation with players. That is weird for former star and something that we didn't have since LVG.
To sum it up, I think Koeman is a poor man LVG (whom I think is an all time great btw)

Edit: Just found that behindbrowneyes posted an article making same comparison. I think it is worth reading but take it with grain of salt.

Nothing player who had one good season at Pool and managed to fool everyone (including me) that he was anywhere near Neymar.

And I haven't even liked Neymar since 2016.

looks like another 100m wasted on a rubbish player. we have wasted more 300m on signing rubbish players in the the last 3 years.

He will be back here next season.

Failed player with a weak mentality, simple as. Bloke has turned into rubbish and no manager can save him at this point.
