Most likely going to be a 2 + 1 years deal IMO. Which means the next board will have the power to decide if they want to move on from him after two years or not. Unless he wins the CL or actually build a team that doesn't get shat on in the CL I don't see him staying past a new board.
New Board will come midway of summer 2021. Doubt the first decision they will take is to fire a coach who is a club legend and just sacrificed his NT coaching job for this job. Not when most coaches already settled some where else and we are looking for remaining parts. Unless someone is crazy enough to give it to Xavi directly from Qatar. 2022 will be the earliest to move on from Koeman.
You don't like him as in tactically he is not right, or why? Because if he is a leader and he doesn't take any shit, and is also competent on top of that, this is already a serious improvement over Valverde.
I haven't seen his teams play too much.
Koeman was the Ten Haag of his era. Rebuilt Ajax team from scratch and built a young dominant side that Europeans elite couldn't wait to get their stars. Although he worked with some big egos/head cases like Ibra/Mido etc. They played beautiful football too.
Things went down from there (one of the main reasons I am not excited about Ten Haag, the original version didn't look great later) But bounced back in Eredivisie again and looked good, then Southampton and looked good. Then Everton and looked bad, then National team and looked great again.
He plays a more balanced football which I think is good. Closer to Rijkaard/LVG than Pep which I actually think fits us perfectly. I think this is Barca's real football and Pep's was more of an anomaly that won't happen again.
But he isn't sustainable, he has a lot of his selections etc wrong. He is also far from being a player friendly coach, and he always loses his relation with players. That is weird for former star and something that we didn't have since LVG.
To sum it up, I think Koeman is a poor man LVG (whom I think is an all time great btw)
Edit: Just found that behindbrowneyes posted an article making same comparison. I think it is worth reading but take it with grain of salt.
