if this City team do go on breaking more records and win the PL, are we looking at the best football team ever in the English league?

Definitely not. Pep is coaching them well but the Premier League is weak and City doesn't have more than 2 world class players in the squad that people will hold in high regard in 10 years. Compare that Otamendi, Kompany, Delph, Walker, Eder, Fernandinho defensive backbone with Chelsea 2005: Cech, Carvalho, Terry, Essien, Makelele, Lampard. Upfront Drogba, Robben, Crespo. A proper European powerhouse.

Also these records hang on fine margins. If it weren't for those wrongly disallowed goals against Valencia and Celta we'd have the exact same point total as City but no one thinks this Barca is the best (in fact this is certainly the worst in over a decade), nor the 12/13 one with 100 points record.

Weak? Probably not. But PL teams are less technical, which is why they are more bothered by Pep's pressing. Lack of proper technique is a major issue when you're trying to fight off a Pep team. All the PL teams seem to be able to do is randomly boot the ball up field. They just can't pass under pressure like more technical teams can.

It's 100 % weaker than it was in the mid 00s where Arsenal was still a respectable team that could make it to a CL final and compete with Barca, Liverpool could make 2 CL finals in 3 years and United and Chelsea were powerhouses. Right now you have only teams that will get rekt latest in the quarters, including City. It's extremely weak if the second best team consists of garbage like Rashford, Lingard, Lukaku, Mata, Jones, Mickymousetarian etc. United fans themselves wouldn't rate anyone beyond De Gea and Pogba in their current team.

Not all that less technical and Peps tactics never worked last season until he had the pace and power to go with it.

Barely any of the teams 'boot the ball upfield' and La Liga teams never really found a way to stop Peps Barca anyway so no real difference.

It is not weak and comparing it to back then means nothing.

Second best team is yet to be seen across the season.
