No it wasn't. His hand was not glued to his body like it has to be in these situations. There was a gap between his hands and his body. If his hands where glued to his body the shot would've past him and hit the target.

Nonsense. Ball to hand, hand next to the body.

Yes it does. Not when you slide because you can't slide like that, but in these situations the defender has to show intent of not handling the ball. Arnold didn't and exposed himself and it was a clear hand ball for me. He basically blocked Sterling's shot with his hand.

Liverpool received a penalty in the CL final for something similar. That one was actually a ricochet into his hand, not even directly in the hand, and it was given. Also close range, also ball to hand.

In CL final the arm was stretched out wide.

Yes, but it was a ricochet from his body. And close range. And no intent. The rules have changed into giving less leniency for defenders in these cases. Arnold can approach Sterling with his hand glued to the body like most defenders do in this case, but he didn't. And he ended up blocking the shot with his hand.

I've seen penalties given more often than not in these cases.

Let's quickly summarise the difference between Guardiola losing here and valverde losing here.

Guardiola: lost 3-1, created lots of chances, had their gk and best cb out, liverpool had their best xi. Could have had a penalty early on potentially changing the entire game.

Valverde: lost 4-0, created 2/3 chances (thanks to Messi), had their full squad fit, liverpool had 2/3 forwards injured. Could have lost 7-0 :/

Don’t think Kimpembe’s arm in the Manu game last season was in a less natural position or much further out from his body than that 2nd one.

Result flatters Liverpool today with City’s injuries and chances, could have scored 3/4 goals easily.

Cavani was known for his fitness. Never injured until recently.

But you catch my drift. Messi can't run all the game to keep some freshness to be able to score and be efficient offensively. The Liverpool players seem to never need to keep their energy.

Their bad injury luck went on substitutes like Oxlade Chamberlain and Keita. The poor dudes have taken the hit for the whole team.

Majority of Liverpool's player didn't play too much in the past.
They are playing a lot and running like crazy in the last 2-3 years.
After 5-8 seasons, they will be drained also.

Barca's team is old and drained since 2008'.
Liverpool are today where Barca was in 2011.
Barca is today where Liverpool will be in 2030 (being drained and tired).

Who was injured in Pep's Barca 2008-2011?
No one.

"Barca players are old and drained". This is true and a valid point.

But then you remember....

He repeatedly lobbies for old, "proven" players who're like 30 years old. Like a Willian or Paulinho

Mental gymnast.

And supports Valverde when he plays said old and drained players instead of trying out some of the more energetic, younger players. Something you know, most competent managers would do.

That was a bs penalty. Nowadays, VAR wouldn't give penalty for that obviously. They were harsher at the beginning.

Willian is not drained.
There isn't a team in the modern football who's core is as drained as Barca's.

Since no one was dominating for 10+ years.
Except Milan from 1990-2005.
And then they died in the same fashion.

Also, I would take you more serious if you hadn't wrote Dembele.
You just ruined everything you have wrote before that.

And I liked your post quite a lot.

Willian has less goal involvements than Dembele the last few seasons. Superstar Willian.

Stats BBZ. Your favorite stats.

Inb4 you bring out the good ol' clearances/interception stats to claim Willian is better.
