You're shifting goal posts. No one is arguing that Ligue 1 is worth watching as much as EPL or even LL. You said Messi will fade into obscurity without a CL win, and I countered by saying that Neymar and Mbappe have done just fine with remaining in the spotlight without winning a CL. Simple enough, no?

Nah, general fans will generally tune in in numbers on CL days mostly after the novelty of his transfer will wear off. Few will watch PSG vs Ligue 1 trash when there are 2-3 better games on to see.

This is the argument. Messi stepped out of the top leagues for CL glory. But CL is 6-8 big games all season. If he fucks it up in those moments, he will be like Zlatan.

That's mostly true. Messi took the risk, but he went to one of Europe's strongest teams ready to win big right now. Ronaldo didn't, but it'll pay off if he actually wins something with United.

Fading into obscurity means something else with top players, but I agree. Neymar is one of the world's finest, yet he's been closer to individual fame at Barca. Similar with Mbappe. They need to prove themselves in the CL or with the NT. The latter being hard for Messi.

I said CL excepted. City have massive advantage over PSG because they can have a top season by winning the EPL. PSG are CL or bust. Haven't they sacked managers after winning big domestically? Not even they care that much about winning in France. Why should the average fan?
