United has had terrible return on the money they have spent.

Yes, City are cheats, but United should be able to complete with them, judging at the level of spending, but instead they been fighting for UCL sports most seasons last 10 years, thats abysmal.

If United wouldn't have been arrogant morons, they would've signed Guardiola and became a huge deal.

Instead they signed Moyes ... As in the club is so unfallible, that they can bring a nobody and the club would simply carry the guy.

In the end, they were more like a medium club in mentality that just had a great manager to carry them in SAF. They simply believed in the role of the institution too much, and devalued the importance of Ferguson.

Of the clubs in England, United is the only one that shows the pride of a great club and this can be seen in their manager appointments. Sort of like Barca and Madrid. They use the institution to "train" managers and imprint their club culture on the "picked" ones. But their institution is nowhere near as historically valuable as Madrid or Barca.

The fans of Spanish elite clubs are much more ruthless. The United fans are in their 10th rebuild season or so and they still see top 4 as a good accomplishment. Imagine Barca and Madrid being 10 years on, in a rebuild that never ends with zero big titles to show for. They panic even with 2-3 easons with no big titles, let alone a decade .

A global club has a fickle fanbase by default. It's what drives the club to be ruthless. United are not a global club. They are a local club like Liverpool, and whatever support they drive from overseas is somewhat superficial.

They think of themselves like some sort of Madrid rival, but it's laughable and supericial, a complete folly.

Liverpool are massive in England too. They got the Paisley and Shankley era.

Both of them are huge globally. I remember Liverpool getting 100k fans in Australia for a pre season friendly.

SAF was a briliant manager, but he has some blame in it as well, he was the one reccomending Moyes in the first place.

Liverpool and United are two of the most well supported clubs in the world and have been for decades.
No they are not.

They are a local club, that gather a local following and some global, but very niche supporting. In Romania for example, you see Barca and Madrid shirts every-fucking where. Saw 50 year old men walking their dogs with Rivaldo and Raul shorts as back as early 2000s.

It's not good, not bad. It's also good to have a more connected, more passionate, albeit niche following.

Don't fucking care if some indian from Mumbai who watches 90% cricket or some stuff supports United because they speak English.

Asia, Australia... come on, really?

Football is huge in fucking Europe and South America. They don't count much in these areas outside England.
