If anything, this season he has showed his pragmatism, and the fact that he can put up a top defensive unit. Plenty of teams can do with that.

Xavi is very similar to Lucho imo.
Something good? As in? Only winning CL or EPL counts as a bigger title. Sure, Xavi has a lot to prove compared to likes of Pep and Klopp, but not compared to likes of ETH anymore.
Why not? What is it with you and ETH anyway?

Xavi is new to the management world. It might be a while before we know his true level. These guys you mention have been coaching world class teams for decades. Winning one LaLiga doesn't put him far ahead of anyone objectively, he is in development and will need to be consistent in winning titles.

Yes, and back then the expectation was winning the CL lol.

Apples vs oranges.

Expectation or not.. that team and those players under multiple coaches were failing badly.

Expectation is one thing reality is another.

As said you used to claim Messi and Suarez were making that team worse.

Xavi did resemble EV run in the league, except he did it out of necessity with a much weaker side. And this changes the optics a lot.

Because ETH hasn't won a big title at a big club yet. Even got embarrassed by Sevilla ffs...

Xavi has a lot to prove still, I agree, but not compared to likes of ETH. But compared to the big guns.

Well, he managed Ajax, and now in his first season with United who were a very long way from being contenders when he took over. Not ideal opportunities to win major titles.

Competing with a team like City is super difficult and it's gonna take a few years to get to that level.

There is precisely zero chance Xavi would win the EPL with Man Utd this year and a very good chance that ETH with hundreds of millions would have far greater chance of winning La Liga with Barca.

Cant claim Xavi is better as won league. Doesnt work like that.

EV won back to back doubles and went further in Europe... Must be better than both Xavi and ETH.

He hasn't competed even vs Arsenal, let alone City. Early sure... but still... City is the last of ETH's problems. Guy lost almost all games off Old Trafford vs first half of the table lol.

Criticizing Xavi is fair game. But you can't use ETH as a measuring stick. Have to aim higher.

If after 2 or 3 years, he hasn't seriously competed for anything, I will agree with you then, but Arsenal and City are two very well funded teams with good managers that have gone through years and years of process.

Competing with them instantly will be difficult for any manager around, not just ETH.

Point is many young managers this forum gave as bright alternatives to Xavi had quite shite seasons. Anyone can see this.

This doesn't mean those managers are bad. But it certainly does paint Xavi in a good light atm. Or at least should make you think more and better before you throw shit at him like some do all the time.

You are comparing Spain where teams bar Barca barely win back to back titles and have two big sides to EPL where all teams have money and has the top coaches.

If think Xavi wins league with Man Utd this season or any time soon if had that job then in cloud cukoo land.

You say Nagelsmann... But the story was similar with him. Subpar league performance but incredible UCL record.

Similar with Xavi who had an amazing league performance but terrible European performance, just flipped, neither had both.

Depends which one you prioritise I guess but ideally your club competes in both.
