Not good enough
They weren't even playing today. And they have played a big part in the trophies won in recent seasons.

But yes, he does generally need top players. But that is the same of anyone.

I don't like defending the guy cos I think he's a bell. But he is a tactical genius. True though that there's far more to coaching - or more accurately management - than being great tactically.

Can't have Rodri go down and the whole team crumbles.

If it's coz of Rodri going down it means either

1) the squad planning is horrible to not have a competent replacement
2) the manager is poor not being able to find an alternative.

A pivot shouldn't like Messi going down. In 2024 most sides play a double pivot anyways and share delegation.

It's not just because of Rodri going down. He's the best player in the world imo, and I have consistently said that over the last two or so years, but like you say only a Messi can cause something like this. It's far too big a collapse to attribute to one player's absence.

Nah Spanish coaches live or die by the DM.

It shows poor planning by the sport department for sure.

Obviously has nothing to do with the managed pep being poor, because that's just literally impossible.

Pep has been doing the double Pivot thing for years now, it doesn't make up for the actual DM in his system.

I imagine leaks from the verdict may be causing the drop in performancers.

Hard to be motivated if team is set to be relegated and nothing matters from this season.

Don't think they'll be relegated but probably 15-20 points deducted so know they don't have chances to win and probably not even qualify for top 4/5. Will probably finish midtable (after point deduction), rebuild the team in summer and then with no European competition walk the league again next season.

Rodri's injury had two effects: one in term of his absence in the lineup, which would result in short term crisis; the other in terms of his absence in the team, which results in a long term crisis. Losing your best player, the ballon d'or winner, spine of the midfield and having to replace him with bums. It ponders panic, Pep looks for solution and eventually he loses his mind and the problems go much deeper.

My point is: Rodri's ACL is obviously not the only problem here, but it started everything. Like a domino effect.

Even at that. They were 1-0 up (despite playing poorly) and made a mistake out of nowhere. Nunes even compounded his mistake by trying to make up for it.
