It's incredible how the very same people that blamed absolutely anything and everything wrong with the club on Valverde are now calling for "context" and "perspective" in the case of Setien.

Some of the excuses are valid to be honest, but I don't have any time for them after petulance and vitriol spewed spewed in the previous months. Any way you cut it Setien will be gone this summer if he doesn't win the CL or Liga. That's just football. There were some encouraging signs at Madrid under Solari as well, but he won feck all and was promptly kicked to the curb by Flo.

Was okey match, cannot really blame Setien for losing. Ever since that Supercopa loss we have had serious issues with finishing chances. Mainly Messi, but also Griez and others.

We were good in the 2nd half.
In the first half, Mats had to play risky passes all the time, all players were useless, Rakitic was hiding, Busi was a tree, Frenkie was lost, Alba was scared, Roberto is not an attacker, Fati is a kid, Lenglet can't play under pressure, Mats was making mistakes.

First half looked like Anfield except against a crappy team.

In the 2nd half, we improved, dominated and missed 2 golden chances.

Also, about a part: that we missed chances and they were lucky, is it something new?
Barca is losing in that way since always.

We always concede either from a random counter or from a cross and a header (Atletico in a CL; Juve in a CL, Roma in a CL, Liverpool in a CL).

Yeah I'd say that's a fair summary of the game. We were poor first half and much better second. I think overall we deserved the win but doesn't always go that way. Just think the chances we missed today were especially bad, Messi missing that is 1/100. Simply saying the 1-0 result doesn't make Setien a joke.

I cant remember a single game we played better and lost under Valverde. It was always deserved as fuck.

Wonderful conclusion. We could have played for 90 minutes more and we wouldn't score. Depleted squad? Dembele is injured 24/7 so that's nothing new and 90% of people here wanted Suarez out and now when he is out we have depleted squad?!?! Wow!!! Oh and guess what, Setien gave green light for loaning Perez and now he has no attackers on the bench. Wonderfull decision!

Valverde had two years. Setien's had a month.

For what its worth I don't think Setien is the solution beyond this season. He was unlikely to ever be one.

But EV won 9 out 10 league matches when he started.
Setien already lost to Valencia, almost got KOd by Ibiza, won against Granada only against 10 men and got KOd in from a CDR.

Results wise, EV's start was better.
And remember that Setien's first 5 matches are very easy.
After that, we will have a horror show in schedule: CL matches and way tougher matches.

In hindsight, it is easy to undermine EV's results and say that he was shit since always.
A fact is that EV started awesome results wise in his first season (undefeated season except Rome and Levante) over 50 matches.

Now honestly, quite likely, Setien will have tons and tons defeats till the end of a season.

And then people will again say: but he got a team midseason.
Well, Ev got a team without Neymar and got a forever injured Dembele and had only 2 fit strikers in Messi and Suarez.
And managed to win 90% of matches in those Months.

Again, in hindsight, EV was bad.
But if you compared their starts, except of having possession, Setien's start is really bad to mediocre at best.

And with all the injuries, pressure from media, fights between players and the board, the most likely scenario is that we will... (well, you know what I will say. Titanic).
