But EV won 9 out 10 league matches when he started.
Setien already lost to Valencia, almost got KOd by Ibiza, won against Granada only against 10 men and got KOd in from a CDR.

Results wise, EV's start was better.
And remember that Setien's first 5 matches are very easy.
After that, we will have a horror show in schedule: CL matches and way tougher matches.

In hindsight, it is easy to undermine EV's results and say that he was shit since always.
A fact is that EV started awesome results wise in his first season (undefeated season except Rome and Levante) over 50 matches.

Now honestly, quite likely, Setien will have tons and tons defeats till the end of a season.

And then people will again say: but he got a team midseason.
Well, Ev got a team without Neymar and got a forever injured Dembele and had only 2 fit strikers in Messi and Suarez.
And managed to win 90% of matches in those Months.

Again, in hindsight, EV was bad.
But if you compared their starts, except of having possession, Setien's start is really bad to mediocre at best.

And with all the injuries, pressure from media, fights between players and the board, the most likely scenario is that we will... (well, you know what I will say. Titanic).

EV was great until the Roma disaster. After that, we were a joke.

What is the obsession with comparing everything with Valverde. Support him or not, the team had lost its way. Yes some Barca fans went way overboard with the Valverde hate and to be honest if Bartomeu had one footballing bone in his body, he would've dismissed him in the summer and saved some of the shameful hatred he received. We were flat and completely out of ideas, with the luxury of having Lionel Messi to drag us out of situations.

The reality is Setien is in charge now and rather than trying to recreate the toxic environment to point score or compare this to that, everyone should be pulling in the same direction for a change.

you got this wrong. Blokes in here actually saying that we played better under EV, which is laughable.

Guys in here scrambling to find positivises as if we are Arsenal or Valencia. This is Barcelona, Setien should consider himself happy as at Real Madrid they are way more trigger happy and sack managers like him immediately.

Let's be real, no one gives you time at clubs like this. Maybe only if we won something in the first season, you get another one. Otherwise Setien is an old guy who knew what he was taking over, so stop finding excuses for him.

Wonderful conclusion. We could have played for 90 minutes more and we wouldn't score.

In 6 Setien's matches, this is already a 3rd time that we didn't score (Valencia 2:0, Bilbao 1:0, Granada 0:0 with 11 vs 11 men).
And again, we are yet to play very hard matches in the 2nd part of a season.

Setien still hasn't found a good midfield yet. Needs to let go of his Busquets love affair. Frenkie needs to play in his best position or just not be on the pitch, useless him wandering around aimlessly.

Valverde did well in his first season, but he basically refused to play any players we signed for depth. Played everyone out of position and then his style of football was garbage. Seemingly didn't care about training hard enough.

I don't like Setien, never rated him and don't think he should be the Barca manager after this season, but this love and revisionism when it comes to Valverde just confuses me.

Yeah but as you know when we have ball possession people here tend to get erection so no goals are needed. Many here forget that Cruyff philosophy was to score more than the opponent and not to hold the ball just for the sake of it.

Would have won nothing with EV so dont worry too much.

Wonderful conclusion. We could have played for 90 minutes more and we wouldn't score. Depleted squad? Dembele is injured 24/7 so that's nothing new and 90% of people here wanted Suarez out and now when he is out we have depleted squad?!?! Wow!!! Oh and guess what, Setien gave green light for loaning Perez and now he has no attackers on the bench. Wonderfull decision!

What's the matter with you? You usually make sense.

We had 2 near sitters with Messi and Griezmann having free shots at their keeper. That on average is two goals considering we're talking two world class players here. How can you say we could've played another 90 mins and we wouldn't have scored?

This is an absolute stupid thing to say and it's a blatant lie.

are you even reading? It's not about possession, it's about created chances. And over the last games we had plenty of them, but the finishing is incredibly shit. Messi and Griezmann are missing chances left and right.

Were folk happy after defeat to Valencia when had more of ball?

Barca were better team tonight, created better chances. No one as far as can see are 'happy' about going out but aknowledge team played well and should have scored those chances.

Or maybe some people just have a more balanced view than the usual nutcases. That wasnt a performance to lose your composure to - that may come later. But hold your trigger for now.
