I could get 80 points if Messi plays the way he's done the past 2 seasons in LL (above a goal a game with plenty of assists).

What matters is whether the rivals are stronger than 80 points or not. They haven't been last 2 seasons hence the titles.

Well, it’s not my point. But you simply can’t undermine two Liga titles by saying the rivals were bad. In fact RM 08/09 was horrible, look at that team. And Cholo wasn’t even a thing back then. Should we downplay our 08-09 campaigns aswell? No. RM of the last few years still won CL while they got knocked out in the 1/16 before. Should this downplay Pep and his achievements? Not in my worls

The 08/09 season is special because we were the 2nd team ever to win a treble.

And because we destroyed some of the big rival teams like Bayern (4-0 in CL QFs in 45 mins), Madrid 6-2 at Bernabeu, and beat a really strong United team 2-0 in the final. All while playing jaw dropping football.

Stop trying to act as EV's lawyer.

Lol you are completely missing the point.

I wanted EV out after a few months while lots supported him for being clear number 1 his first season.

Setien's masterclass football. Valverde could only dream of this type of football.

I won't undermine Valverde's La Liga titles, but am I allowed to say we played some awful football for most of those two league campaigns and relied heavily on individual brilliance, more so than any of our other league titles?

The only signing I would make is a good, athletic CB if possible. Those idiots loaned out Todibo so we're stuck with Pique, a broken Umtiti and Lenglet who's playing like he's scared ever since Anfield.

Yes. And I agree.

Btw, any news about how much we are paying him for letting go?

Exactly. That 4-4-2 in the first season was overrated, some really lucky results that season. God knows how we nearly went unbeaten.

For those who talk about La Liga's being handed to EV, well, there probably is a big element of RM weakness to it. But first EV season he really did one thing for Barcelona - he stopped you conceding and playing banter defense. Until that one fixture. He did refocus the team towards a certain goal. Which came at a price of entertainment and progress. But it's yet to be seen how the team performs when they're not as conservative as they were. Remember, they're still quite shit at it as a unit for the most part and it's really difficult to expect any manager to hide Busquets and Pique weaknesses.

There's a great way to hide Busquets and Pique's weaknesses: bench them.

He may not be the ideal coach and people are right to be sceptical about his leadership etc,but he DEFINITELY can be a BIG improvement from Valverde.

Welcome!
