Quique Setien

Firing a coach that is clearly not on the required level will cost as a shitload of money AGAIN. And we don't have money! You know why Setien? Because he is another puppet who will do exactly what our board wants. Why do you think Xavi refused to enter this shitshow?! Because he is not dumb and he clearly doesn't want to be someones puppet.

The thing is this board is truly incompetent to begin with.. See their past history and you will know!! Second, they had put all their eggs in Xavis basket and once he refused, they had to go with what was the available choice.. Again, No half decent coach in football is signing a 6 month contract.. You need to give long contract, no two ways about it!! And yes its going to cost money if it doesnt work out..But there is no two ways about it..

To Quote NBA analyst Stephen A Smith from a few years back, "Considering the fact that you're replacing nothing, that already makes you a something" :D

I just hope we move on from him quickly if he turns out to not be up to par and he doesn't stick around for years like that cockroach.

To close out the season though, he's fine. He needs to impress big time to justify sticking around beyond that.

Also Valverde being gone is good no matter who the next coach is.

Than why not Pimienta for 6 months and that a proper manager in summer? He would have costed basically nothing and was a zero risk move. This is stupid as it gets. Another horribly wrong decision by our incompetent board led by Farto!

From what DonAK described (Setien’s experience at Betis) it doesn’t appear that Setien is a yesman, of course that doesn’t mean he won’t be one but on the same token anybody, including Koeman and Xavi could turn out to be a yesman.

At this point we will just have to wait and see.

La Liga is tough as hell this year. That would be a big achievement. This is not Lopetegui imploded Madrid we're dealing with.

Valverde was never proven, and nor is Setien.

It's really not that tough as expected to be, albeit not the worst Madrid. The number of goals we have under Valverde already shows we have quite the firepower. Only the execution is lacking. Zidane is still very conservative and hasnt found a way to build his attacking side. Winning against Pathetico is not an achievement, will see how they handle City. CL on the other hand is gonna be tough.

With this board we are not getting a proper manager anywhere.. No one who knows Barca wants to be anywhere near them.. So our best chance is with the next board..

Yea, but Madrid are creating plenty of chances. They will start banging the goals soon. Hazard will be back. Suarez, our 2nd scorer after Messi is out for the season. Madrid's defense is much better. I'm telling you, winning La Liga this year is super tough.

We need to play much better than we've done so far, especially away, to win the title.

I think he is huge downgrade from EV, his biggest weakness iws how he set up defense which would be huge flaw here. I don't think he is good tactically either.
Anyway, if he is coming I hope I am wrong I wish him nothing but luck.

Huh? Our defense was abysmal under Ernie this season. Worst thing that can happen in defense is we continue to be shit.

Jupp Heynckes was 66 when Bayern brought him in in 2011 and only because they had no other choice, none of the top clubs were knocking on his door, but he got his hands on the right players and he proved to be a top manager. Up to that point he had been with midtable German and Spanish sides for 25 years and never won a trophy with any of them (apart from that 1 season at Real). But at Bayern it clicked because he had players who had the talent to play the way he wanted which he didn't have at Schalke, Tenerife or Bilbao etc.

Setien hasn't achieved much in the way of trophies but his teams played fantastic football and with a much more talented group his style might lead to great success for us. I am optimistic.

Sorry guys but no way in hell I can approve this choice. Setien is nobody and if he can become Barca manager based on one good season with Betis than anyone can. I hope I am wrong but there is basically 90% chance he will fail here big time.

People will than again blame players but the truth is this generation had only ONE good manager and a bunch of clowns on the bench. I have no problem admitting if I am wrong but I sincerely doubt this will be the case here. IMHO it's sad that Setien and Pimienta were only ones who wanted to accept the job. That fact clearly shows the state of this club right now.

 Also, what huge downgrade over EV? EV was fired because he would've run this team into the ground this season with his 'tactics'. Nobody is saying Setien will be a great choice, but let's be real here, EV was good in his first season, decent in his 2nd, and crap in the current season.

Heynckes had still won leagues and a CL, though

We were shit and that was expected, I talked about it after transfer windows. We don't have individuals to build an average defense anymore.
EV could not fix it, and Setien is even worse IMHO, far worse.
EV at least had the brain to drag the team to defend against RM when he failed to control midfield (and sure,he should be blamed for that situation from the start) but Setien isn't the guy to adjust if things don't work out.
His attacking football is nothing special either, he can play dull passing around football more than a quick one.
Honestly I think he is overrated, I watched LP few times in Segund before him and I think he got the credit for the work of his predecessor, they were entertaining possession type of team before him. Betis fans hated quickly especially for how he played.
I see him as slightly inferior version of Paco Jémez tbh

And Setien will probably be crap so we'll make no progress at all but we'll spend more money if we decide to fire him in summer. So what's the point than? I clearly can't see none except burning more money.
