Quique Setien

What a turn of events. Now RAC1 is saying Setien wants a longer contract than just 6 months and his agents are negotiating with the club while another RAC1 journalist apparently said Setien doesn’t want to come until the end of the season. Don’t know what to believe.

This is turning into a full-blown circus.

The least Setien can do is not to drive most of the fanbase towards clinical depression watching Barca games.

Heynckes won his titles at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, huge clubs with enormous resources, he won nothing with Schalke, Leverkusen, Tenerife or Bilbao etc. Setien hasn't had the opportunities until now, so let's see how he does but Las Palmas and Betis played great football so if he can translate that to Barca then I think he can do well and play exciting football.

While he had already had success at Bayern and Madrid, what got him the Bayern job was his excellent two years at Bayer Leverkusen. They were runner up to Dortmund in 2011 and had a crazy unbeaten run the season before.

As far as I'm concerned you can't compare the two appointments.

In before Setien is done and Ernie comes back with a public apology from the club for the way they've doubted him .

And Setien will probably be crap so we'll make no progress at all but we'll spend more money if we decide to fire him in summer. So what's the point than? I clearly can't see none except burning more money.

It's not your or my money though, is it? Let them worry about the length of contract and how much they pay who. At least under Setien we should be able to see some nice attacking football for a change, and honestly that's the main thing I care about. Under Setien at least I'm excited to sit down and watch our matches again. If we win any trophies to go with it, that much better. It was always like this in my mind, that's why I became a Cule in the first place, even though result-wise we were even worse, actually much worse back in 2000s when I started following the club, when compared to us in the last 2 and a half years. We weren't gonna win shit with Failverde this year anyway and you know it! At least now we have HOPE, but most of all, an INCENTIVE to freaking watch our matches again! ;)

If it's bound to happen, I'd still rather take a graceful CL exit while playing good football than another shit show horrow and possibly humiliation under Shitverde.

I don't give a shit about the club burning money on firing Setien, if he signs and on a 2,5 year contract. The problem for me is that when are waisting the last years with Messi around by hiring mediocre/unproven managers.
We are the best club in the world over the past 10 years. Sure, we could have done a little better by winning 2-3 more CLs. Otherwise we have did very well, considering we had only one world class coach in all these years.
If we give someone a lengthy contract then I prefer that someone to be world class.

We'll see but right now I can't be optimistic regarding Setien. Sorry but no way in hell should we give him more than 6 months.

Can't compare Setien (who is a decent - good manager) to Don Jupp who led one of the most fearsome club sides of the modern era.

Club de Amigos will love Setien. They are practically the same age meanwhile Setien has better knees. At half time they can all get there bocadillos out and eat together discussing what needs to be done in the 2nd half.

Setien left Betis when they had no striker, comes to Barcelona with no striker.

Perfect match.
