Quique Setien

I was excited after the Granada game but more cautious now. It is showing that are problems are much more fundamental and playing posession-based football while fielding the amigos will not change the situation that easily.

Whenever someone brought up Setien to be the manager of FC Barcelona when he managed Betis as well as after he was sacked, I always responded that he was not the answer as his sides play static and slow possession football with 3 CBs and no real penetration. Well, this is exactly what happened against Ibiza in the whole game and today in the first half. But: this may be unpopular, but we had a domineering spell of 15-20 mins after conceding the first goal where we absolutely should have scored the equaliser. I don't know what are the XGs and I expect them to be somewhat equal. So his system sort of does work in attacking way when we play it faster. Defensively it is a different story. Regardless, the signs are quite alarming. If he doesn't drop his weird 3 CB obsession with Roberto being the RCB, we are in for a ride lads!

He will have to react to this. If he doesn't and dwells on his mistakes, he will be gone in the summer. If he is gone, then bring in a big name for next season, and we will see where we are in 2021.

Clearly a disconnect between him and players, dawg.

At least he acknowledges we played a million useless passes and today's performance was horrendous.

Ev would have just said "this is football" or something like that.

It's funny how many people thought we have the right players, very good players but a bad coach: it's just a matter of coach, all it took is simply changing the coach and this team will easily win the triplete and play well..

Xavi: "Barca have slept, for years, when it comes to signings. Those who make the signings do not know what they are doing, and you pay for that.

The main reason of the actual situation is our board: catastrophic transfer market, no a plans, no vision, no balls, people who should have been kicked out of here long ago.

Well that's the main reason I am happy he didn't take over right now. He is smart he knows the situation can't be changed without suffering first. He will probably take over in 2022 when all of our seniors retire.

Now, let's not panic, and understand that this is normal. It was clear for a while now that this will be a bumpy season. We are finally realizing for the first time in years, that there is a problem. Once you realize this, you can move and change the situation. Until now we've been in denial for seasons, believing the CL disasters where somehow all a sign of coincidence.

Sooooo many people said it was a combination of ageing squad, board decisions and the manager. But nah lets strawman the fuck out of everything why not

We were never going to win La Liga anyway.

23 of these goals were conceded under Valverde and 2 under Setien.

Regardless of which, it is impossible to win La Liga when conceding goals like that.

You like bets. Shall we bet he won't make it through spring?

He will make it, at least until summer regardless of results otherwise this board would spit in their own faces and they won't do that for sure.

We should all realize that things can't improve in 14 days. I was all against Setien since IMHO he is nowhere near Barca level (same as Valverde) but let's be fair here not even Klopp or Pep would do much better in 14 days. For that you should hire a magician.

I'd rather have a bumpy ride but see things moving towards some improvements, than pretend for years everything is fine while hiding behind Messi's numbers and waiting for the first big team we face to trash us in Europe.

He will make it. Barto doesn't have the boiling blood of Florentino.

He could definitely sack him on principle if Barca get knocked out by Napoli. Even more so if you lose the Clasico. This board is about short-term money and milking trophies as long as Messi is here. If Setien's approach costs them that, he will not finish.

Barca won't get knocked out by Napoli. Even if we suffer in Italy, which we probably will, we'll do enough to finish them off on Camp Nou.
