Quique Setien

This was his first game and despite us starting that horrible midfield, we looked good and we actually attacked in the entire match. under Valverde, we used to fall asleep in the first 20 mins, do okay in the middle of the match and then fall asleep again in the last 20 mins.

only criticism was him starting that midfield and subbing off Rakitic too late. I just really hope he never starts him or that midfield ever again.

Villarato!
Setien already going out of his way to point out the wind blowing and pitch drying was slowing the play down. Cruyffismo truly coming back

The one thing I didn't like is Roberto basically playing as a 3rd CB.

Perhaps maybe someone like Semedo could fit that role as he has the speed and defensive awareness but Roberto? would be suicide against teams that have that player who can isolate and dominate in 1v1 situations.

Finally saw the game, not impressed lots of sideways passing and a lack of penetration in the final 3rd.

Granada has never taken a point for his in 24 games and Setien nearly ruined that record with a dreadful starting lineup .

This is a game we would have conceded a shitload of shots with Granada getting chances as they break through our weak defensive line with no issues on the counter if Valverde was still in charge.

Like every other team, we faced this season even at home.

2 criticisms for Setien

1) playing Bob as the RCB when Semedo is more suited for that position
2) not taking Rakitic much earlier for Puig.

Other than that loved the team's play today. Already looking forward to the next game.

Let's try one more time..

- team counter pressing and winning multiple balls: check
- fatser buildup and movement: check
- Puig plays his first ever game this season and does great: check
- only one chance conceded: check
- first clean sheet Victory since forever: check
How many boxes should a new manager tick, in less than a week, without his no.9 striker (who participated in our last 12 goals or something) and without our best midfielder (Fdj) for some people to give him a break ? Expecting honest answers. Won't get any.

Really trying to not call out some trolls here. But they don't make it easy.

except we had +80% possesion , unlucky not to score 2 more , dominated the game , other team had like 1 chance all game.

wow !!! vs Grandada at home ! what a performance, we could score only when granada played with 10 players..
The true is that: with this performance and result with EV as coach, the coach would have been insulted as usual.

Said that, judging a coach after 1 match is impossible.
But I am quite positive about Setien. He can't do much in few months, but I think and hope that in term of motivation and giving play time to canteranos he will do well.

I would not call that goal saved by Messi. Have you watched the goal?

It almost a tap in for Messi. It was a good build up play that start with high pressure winning the ball back.

Yeah, this goal with EV as coach would be described as usual: Messi saved the ass of EV once again.

No it wouldn't. Not even the one outside the box, where he is so close to scoring would, because it was also possible due to a brilliant move.
