Rafinha Alcantara

Doubtful that both Rafinha and Denis could both play the same role and succeed in the first team, one will have to evolve and adapt to a different position. My bet is on Rafinha doing that because he's more accustomed to directing buildup play than Suarez who acts more like a pacy winger/wide midfielder with some technical ability.

Rafinha can almost play everywhere in the attack as well though. He was often a striker/false nine in the youth teams.

Its been quiet after his first goal ? how is he doing ?

Celta's form has been in a bit of a dip (they've had tougher opponents) and that's shown on Rafinha as well, but he's still been above average overall even if not headline-capturing.

Several European top clubs have sounded out Rafinha (21), who's on loan at Celta this season. He has a contract until 2016, buyout 30M. [md]

Forgot to post I thought he was great against Barça. Jds should go, so he can come back. But maybe another season at Celta would be good.

Rafinha isn't a playmaker. He is even more of an attacker than Fabregas. Jonathan on the other hand is a passer. Stylistically the closest thing Barca have to Xavi right now. For squad diversity it would be suboptimal to have 4 or 5 attacking midfielders (if you also count Messi because if Barca really buy a CF he'll be another attacking midfielder) but only 1 midfield conductor. Sergi Roberto and Rafinha can't coexist alongside Messi, Iniesta and Fabregas.

Maybe Pep will want Rafinha too, out of spite again to prove a point how he can make 27 midfielders in the same team work.

JDS should've been sold awhile ago, crazy to think he's still in the squad (Albeit injured) and never plays

Rafinha has looked very good in his move to the 1st team and I still don't believe anyone knows where his best position is, can play in a variety of positions in that attacking third...Would prefer Song sold and make room for recalling Rafinha

Barça wanted to sell, he just didn't want to leave. Talking about Dos Santos just to be clear :p

Tito, not Martino.

Martino: "Before starting the press conference, I would like to send greetings to Jonathan dos Santos, we hope he recovers soon."
