I think they need to trim the squad salaries.. i read astonishing figures that Calderon & co agreed on .. while i liked what they did with the cantera (buy-back..etc ) i was amazed with the high salaries they gave for some names.

it's a matter of value now. players like Heinze & Salgado absorb 7.5 Mil in salaries while their value in terms of sale due to form is close to zero.. so when they release them they save 7.5 Mil Euro which looks like a fee considering they won't play any minutes .

Salgado was very good in his days and one of the best RB in the world.. but the decision is 3-4 years too late .however it's a clear statement and signal for Raul who is Salgado best friend and both share the same agent..

I still think Sneijder could be staying they need to offload VDV & a striker or 2 soon

the salary issue is a big point to consider in deed!!! 15m € saved by releasing heinze & salgado is a lot.

at this point, i honestly don't think sneijder will stay. just look at the official statements, better said at the changes of these. to name the 2 most important, pellegrini said he wants sneijder to stay...cut to valdanos "until proven otherwise", which basically means he's transferable.

i'm really curious to see how the xabi alonso saga will end!!! IMO, the only option is to get him. this position is currently the weakest spot and the missing piece of the puzzle. get defour instead would be bad negotiation and false pride.
while i absolutly don't like the way rafa is behaving, i have to say l'pools demands are perfectly legitimate and their asking price is nothing more than adjusted to this summers mad transfer fees, madrids dire needs and lack of alternatives. this deal will fail unless pérez & co accept their weak position in this speciffic transfer and will see madrid as the only loser.

regarding the sales...VDV is sure to go, so is huntelaar. and i still have a little hope left, that negredo will stay and ruud gets sold/released instead. i also would get rid of drenthe & garay (still don't trust him, would rather put faith in agus, than in him), they're not needed.

While I cannot guarantee that Defour would make it at Madrid, he's not far from Xabi imo. Xabi is a great player but not THAT special in my opinion, to say there is no alternative is just silly.
