Visca el filòsof!
no he is saying he was elected democratically the same way laporta was renewed democratically ..

i think you are bored this summer :D

It's nothing to do with being bored this time, believe me, I'd be the first to stand up and criticise Barça if anybody became president next summer in the same manner Perez became president at madrid. Laporta was a sitting president and that makes a world of difference.

I can't believe anyone would defend perez's "election."

I mean... the whole thing is like idi amin or something. he used his connections to knock everyone out of the race so he could walk in unopposed. adam is right that laporta being incumbent makes it a different situation. he already held the position and had done well so no one sought to oppose him and risk disrupting what was going on at the club, that scenario wasn't the case at madrid this summer so comparing the two is irrelevant. he didn't even say a word, did he? it was all polls and guarantees and "public" opinion spewed forth on marca and AS which saw all his opponents drop out so he could have a free and easy path back in.

it was hugely dodgy.

and don't think for one second if adam could criticise laporta he'd hold back because he's a culé. :D

 at the last line.. i know Adam and i know what he will defend ..like i know u :D

it's an election .. just because no one came forward it doesn't mean it wasn't an election .. the constitution states the process.
manipulating the press is a political process i can't hold it against him nor am i defending Perez.. i'm saying it's an election that one man won due to the opposition deciding to withdraw due to his strong support
ask yourself did anyone of the candidates had a proper program ?
Platforma Blanca would have hired Michel (the guy who relegated Castilla ) and play his son
the other guy who look like Nestor wanted Bilic and Drogba ..
the third guy said Obama is a Madrid supporter ever since he saw them play the CL final wearing our away black kit.. and showed JFK with 6 fingers in his candidacy press conference

i'll let u decide for yourself .. any kid in Madrid knew those 3 wouldn't get 10 % of the votes combined

Liverpool FC close to selling Xabi Alonso as Real Madrid agree fee

Aug 3 2009 Liverpool Daily Post

XABI ALONSO’S departure from Liverpool is close to being sealed after Real Madrid agreed to meet Liverpool’s asking price.

The Spaniards have indicated they will go to a fee in the region of £30million to secure Alonso the move he has been craving all summer.

Anfield officials met with Real executive director-general José Ángel Sánchez yesterday and they stepped up their bid to finally bring an end to their pursuit of the playmaker.

Real capitalised on the fact that Liverpool were in Spain last night and held the talks in the team hotel in Barcelona prior to the 3-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Espanyol.

Although a deal was not struck, sufficient progress was made to convince Madrid that a final agreement is close.

Rafael Benitez has insisted all along that he will not accept a knockdown offer for the 27-year-old despite Alonso having indicated that he is ready to leave Anfield.

And the Liverpool manager’s patience appears to be paying off as Real finally got closer to the kind of bid he is looking for.

With Roma star Alberto Aquilani already lined up as Alonso’s successor Benitez will be keen for Real to put their money where their mouth has been and finally bring an end to the transfer saga.

The chances of that happening appear to have been boosted after reports in Spain suggested that the Bernabeu coffers will shortly be swollen to the tune of £18m due to the impending sale of Dutchman Wesley Sneijder to Inter Milan.

One of the main sticking points in Real’s pursuit of Alonso in recent weeks has been their insistence that they did not have the ready cash to meet Benitez’s demands following a spending spree that has seen them spend in excess of £165m on Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka and Karim Benzema.

Benitez has always remained adamant that this is not his nor Liverpool’s problem however and has continually made it clear that unless his value of Alonso is met then he will not be allowed to leave.

With the two parties now edging closer to an agreement and with a channel of communication now flowing freely again between Anfield and the Bernabeu it is looking increasingly likely that a deal will be struck in the coming days.

Benitez’s reluctance to give Alonso any more than a substitute’s appearance in the dying stages of last nights’s defeat at the hands of Espanyol was a telling sign of how close an agreement is with the Liverpool manager clearly unwilling to put the Spanish international at risk of the kind of injury that could place the deal in jeopardy.

Alonso’s presence was sorely missed, particularly in the second half as Liverpool struggled with their passing and allowed Espanyol to take full advantage.

Daniel Agger missed the game with a recurring back problem and was today due to undergo treatment at Melwood after Liverpool returned to Merseyside in the early hours of this morning.

Beast, you need to change that signature. Each time you post something, doesn't matter what, the whole meaning changes when i end reading the post with that signature.

Bang goes my dream of seeing a back line of

Salgado - Ramos - Metzelder - Drenthe

in the next clasico.

CA, stop hating on Drenthe - he's an excellent player. Metzelder, Heinze and Salgado - also excellent.
But I saw a post by Beast in the "Warik and Beast..." thread where Beast listed his "if given a chance as manager" team:

Arbeloa/Torres------Ramos/Agus-------Metzelder/Pepe------Marcelo/Drenthe
-----------------------M Diarra/Garay-------------------
---------------Gourcuff/Granero-------------Sneijder/Parejo------------
Villa/Higuain(ss)---------------Negredo/Hunter----------------Robben /Ribery (wingers)

Beast, I enjoy reading you posts, but I had higher thoughts of your potential coaching ability. The team you listed is just not very good imo.
First of all I think Drenthe is absolutely useless - Ramos is a waste on CB - Xabi, Kaka and Diarra is the best midfield (on paper anyway) after ours - and so on...

I really believe in Drenthe man .. it's been going on for over a year..
I saw him with Holland and i saw him with Real.. the difference is both managers who coached him are not the kind of managers who develop him as a player (Ramos & Schuster are not that kind ) .
with pellegerini Drenthe improved as a LB his tackles & position were way better than anything i've seen in the last 2 years .
please remember he is too young ..the same way Marcelo was before he improved last year

Ramos need proper coaching .. the Ramos who played as a CB under Capello was better than the Ramos who played later on he has speed, tackle and i believe with proper coaching u can get much better with players who have potential .

there is various examples of how players fulfill their potential with proper coaching and look no further than Pep last season and some of the performance of certain members under Frank
remember i said in my post in the show that i'm building a team without Perez .. so i don't have 250-300 Mil.. just the normal 80-100 Mil and i build my team based on that not based on the fact that i can buy Kaka-Xabi or CR

meanwhile Valdano said Sneijder is staying

"Until it is proven otherwise, he is still a Real player," Valdano told Cadena Ser.

"Our coach has a lot of confidence in his talents, therefore we are absolutely not under obligation to sell him."
