Big match up next in Valencia.
Btw. when they finish this match Real Madrid will complete their toughest away games of the season after only 14 rounds. (counting the traditional big 6)
Sevilla
Atletico
Villarreal
Barcelona
Valencia

Something to worry about, or be happy with (if you're a Madrid fan)? Barca only had Valencia away so far.

that's true.

but they've also had piss-easy home games, and caught villarreal at a low ebb in terms of the tough away games. atleti don't count. they never do anything against real.

but end of the day, it's real madrid. they can drop points against anyone.

Madrid won't drop much careless points, no matter what they always find a way to win. They sold their soul to the devil long ago after all, but at least they now have sexy underwear.

LOLOL! Madrid have been suffering at the Raizor for 19 years and counting, nothing has changed, you cannot deduce anything from it spursandbarca...

Sure we faced Sevilla and Milan and did not do exactly a good job but we met them early and we weren't exactly terrible. The team needs a lot more time to gel and when they do, they will mount a serious challenge.

You cant forget the Riazor where Madrid will definitely lose 2 points or 3. Sevilla always plays good at the Bernabeu so Im not really worried but you have to say that Madrid will have some kind of an advantage

I'm personally happy with it, we met some tough away games while we are still work in progress and only dropped points to Barca & Seville ( the other 2 big teams and within our position ) , we were really bad against Seville but we improved a lot vs Barca .

I'm delighted with the results considering it helped us drop Manu 4-2-2-2 and adapt a more logical formation and when we did that the results improved.
we need to prepare for Valencia as it won't be easy game at all

all in all we need to be ready for the CL KO rounds and that's what matters, at least pass the 16th round otherwise it will be a complete failure for Manu
(that's if we didn't crash out from the group stage :D )

terrible against Seville no doubt but it's expected given the number of new players and system

I wouldn't say the Madrigal or Calderon are tough away games. I think Madrid are going to find it harder to take points in San Mames and Riazor, which Barca have now played.

Sevilla is the real deal breaker, which Madrid lost of course so Barca can't do any worse in head to head form in that respect. But if Barca can take anything from RSP then it will turn the screw on Madrid.

I think it's an advantage in a way for madrid but Barça typically only really struggle at the Mestalla (clásico aside) of the grounds listed. Our record at the Calderón and Sanchez Pizjuan in recent years is fairly decent, Villarreal aren't up to much this season and in all honesty I'm far more worried about having to face Espanyol away during the last few games.

Granero for Lass? Uh?

yeah, sorry gneg...i was way too fast on that one. i was refering to the lineup, more important the system, both MARCA & AS published in the morning and i posted in the game thread...

---------------casillas----------------

ramos------pepe----garay------arbeloa

----------granero---alonso------------

cristiano---------VDV----------marcelo

----------------higuain----------------

---------------------------------------------------

any news on injuries with regards to the CL match against L'OM??? i heard something about VDV was subed due to injury???

I know Nandor, but I felt that was a bad substitution. Alonso was basically the only defensive minded midfielder. While Granero and VDV had a good game, your midfield in general was bad. You got overrun so many times in the second half and Almeria looked like nicking it if they didn't fuck up, cause they were the boss of midfield.

You wer elucky the Almeria defender failed miserably + you were gifted a penalty. I didn't had the feeling you were going to win the game just based on your own performance cause you lost the midfield battle.

well, to be fair and honest, if madrids finishing wasn't utter shit (like it is for quite some time now), this game would have been finished by half time. almeria was overrun in the first half and during that time, did you have the feeling almeria would be able to go score 2 goals and dominate madrid a big part of the second half???

i agree, that the midfield (apart from the finishing) is a concern...but i question wether this is due to the players (it certainly is in gago's case and often in guti's case as well) or wether it's down to pellegrini not being able to install a constant and working system. the permanent switching between 4-2-2-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 flatt, mutant or diamond shaped can't be helping nor healthy. and i doubt, that (refering to yesterdays MARCA) partnering xabi alonso with cesc fábregas is the solution as long as their is a clear system missing

update:

according to AS, kaká is out of the match against L'OM due to injury.

I didn't think Almeria was going to get something cause after the 1-0, I went for some food just like CA. When I came back, it was a few minutes after the 1-2 (i even saw the replay of the second one) and when I turned the stream on, it was the same as usual. A gap at midfield cause Ronaldo and co doesn't go back to defend (he did it once in the first half though) which leaves a boulevard of space for a team like Almeria. The game should have been wrapped up indeed but if that doesn't happen, you need to change imo.

It's a bit of both. You can't expect a player like Granero to lock down the midfield but of course Pellegrini isn't that innocent. VDV played well btw!

If VDV play like yesterday i have no problems with Kaka missing through injury
with Lass returning beside Xabi things could improve a lot for VDV

same here...i only fear 2 things:

1) pellegrini switching back to 4-2-2-2 in order to start raul. the captain hasn't played much and pellegrini might opt for his experience. it's a sad thing to say, but as things are currently in this season, raul slows down, harms the gameplay and just doesn't fit into this real madrid.
2) the piss poor finishing continues and costs madrid the win/draw (unlike against almeria)
