These are my thoughts on Jose.

In terms of Madrid, we will have to wait and see. Perez will be like a wounded animal after spending so much, promising so much and not getting any silverware. When Jose joins it will be an interesting scenario. I can almost see another Camacho fiasco, with Jose getting annoyed with the board (or visa versa) very early in the season and leaving. The only thing that could prevent that is his desire to try and upstage us. Barca are now recognised as the best team in Europe even though we lost to Jose in the CL. This annoys the hell out of him because his ego demands that the world respects him as the best and he knows that he won't ever coach Barca so the only way he can get the adoration he desperately needs is to go out and beat the best team in Europe in their own league.

Things going for Jose is that the old guard of Raul, Guti etc have been broken up (still no news on where Raul is going yet?) and that he has a young team desperate for success that will listen to him. He is also Portuguese and admired by CRGay so they could enjoy the same relationship as he had with SAF (his comments about his island upbringing notwithstanding). I also feel that the Madrid fans are now so desperate (they do this in cycles over there) that they would accept Jose's style for the CL and La Liga victories. They will turn-coat once they have achieved those victories but will put up with the boring football until they do.

I've noticed it among my Madrista friends aswell, although they are abit nuts when it comes to analyzing football, they seem to have reinvented the whole "a win is a win" philosophy. That may just be the imbecile Madristas outside Madrid.

I think Perez has stayed out all season which will cast a doubt on the first part of your post IMO , something most Madridistas didn't believe even and i stood by my sources and he proved me right (same for Raul ) .
Valdano is a Laissez faire et laissez passer kind of Director who will let Jose work his thing but first he has to approve his hiring ..
tonight's delay for Manuel sacking prove once again Jorge is the man running the club but it will remain to be seen if he can change the direction of hiring Jose .
for Jorge Jose is the second on the list and like you said and i agree with most of your second paragraph the new young squad need a man to lead them and respect him and that's something Pellegrini achieved the later but failed the former

Firing Pellegrini is not only bad for the system (which was proven successful), but it damages the players' confidence in what they were being taught. Do you think bringing in a new coach to an already misled squad will do any good in terms of trust in a system? It will only make players more cynical!

You have brought in the "iron fist" to a team that is demoralized and beaten up. Trusting Pellegrini to carry on with his mission would have proven real trust and improved relationships between management/players.

What system Pepe ? the 4-2-2-2 that was deployed for 14 games ? or the 4-3-3 which was deployed for 7 games , or the 4-2-3-1 which was deployed for 8 games or the 4-3-1-2 which was deployed for 9 games ? did you watch us this season buddy ? we were switching formations a lot which is one of the bad things in Manu era
the problem is we had no system and and there is no success cause there is no system yet implemented , we played really good football most of the season which made him loved and respected by the fans but there was no tactical direction or system
Jose is a man who will implement a system first than pick players second ..
they need a leader massively , it's a difference between failing in crucial games and winning them , they need the believe .. this a very good squad with no direction

Valdano is trying his best to find a manager who can do both tbh , but in front of the board and the fans he is responsible for Pellegrini his man who is very respected by fans & players ( all polls asking for Pellegrini head in Marca ended up with a landslide for Manuel ) and very decent but didn't take the leadership of the team in games despite showing all signs of iron fist in disciplining the players when needed ( big + ) .. however his in game moves /motivational skills came a lot short
don't be surprise if the press said Valdano has approached Wenger again in the coming few days before Monday .. i know that's what he will do but if he failed he will not have anyone worthy of the spot than Jose

Rumors from Madrid that Mourinho is coming and it will be announced after the CL final. Interesting. If true this will make next season an exciting one. Pep vs Mourinho.
