"I love football above all things, to be a footballer in Real Madrid is the biggest dream I can imagine. I'm playing and feeling I want to keep playing as long as possible as long that my body allows it.
Now more than ever I want everyone to know that on every play , dribbling, shooting or gesture in the field I tried to deliver the best of me, in my head has never knew surrender because for me that is Real Madrid, to never surrender " .

" To mention all those who have been at my side this time would be impossible, but they know who they are
i do not ever forget because I have failed and they have been with me . Thanks to all the presidents and directors have done because I feel like this is my home, thanks to colleagues for their sacrifice and dedication ,they helped me become better, thanks to the workers in the club , coaches and the coaching staff with whom I lived and shared daily defeats and victories , thanks to rivals because I always felt respected, thanks to the press because it has helped me get up here and thank to my friends who know who they are, thanks Jorge ( Valdano ) for that first opportunity for some it was madness of a poet of football, thanks to the President because he always wants the best for the club. With millions of fans who want the victory and suffer the setbacks of the team, and especially the Santiago Bernabéu , where I have always been respected. Thanks to my family because without them nothing would make sense , Send my love and admiration for the maestro Alfredo di Stefano , hopefully he'll be back soon . "

Perez speech

This mythical stadium has witnessed unforgettable pages of our club history. It is full of exciting emotions and deeds , and it is here, today we are going to live an exciting time . Many men are part of the legend of Real Madrid, and there are many who have left their mark . Many have been here achieved glory , respect and affection in this sport. Within this group of These extraordinary men Raul is one without question, the answer to the sacred code of the principles of this club. Raul has won the devotion of fans who , wherever he is , he always considered one of their own .

I met Raul personally ten years ago, when I became president in 2000 . That day I realized that his self-imposed character went beyond any logic . I confess that one of my dreams is that The players coming to Real Madrid would fit into the legacy that Raul has left us at this time. In and out of the field he meets all the values of Real Madrid and I confess that I have always proudly told him the respect that he had from all our rivals.

Raul 's curriculum is for many the most prominent and important of his career. It is certainly not easy to earn what he has won, but the number of trophies he has won ( more as a club than as a person) ,But you must add something more: the conquest and the applause of recognition from fans in anywhere in the world "raulistas" .
Raul is the master of his fate, but he knows that we are not talking about a goodbye but a see you later.

Raul , wherever you are, wherever you play , Know that Madrid 's your shirt , our shield is your shield, our love is yours, and this house is your house .

Thanks for everything Raul , do not forget us because we will not forget you
.

Man the speeches....

Raul leaving makes me realize that the day when one of our La Masia boys retire..... (sure as hell that neither Puyi or Xavi is going to wear another shirt...they just won't / can't...)

I'll be the last one crawling out of the local bar here.

Visca el filòsof!
I'd like to echo the sentiment of the vast majority of Barcelonistes when I say

Fuck off Raul, glad to see the back of you :flagvl8:

Oh hell no. Raul and guti leaving Strengthens Real. This actually worries me more than any of Real's transfers. Lets just hope Raul leaving Madrid doesn't have the same effect it had on the National team when Luis kicked him out.

Wonder where he will go. Might do a job in the EPL for someone

Schalke in Bundesliga from what I read. He has a better chance of starting there than in EPL clubs (well, depends on which but Utd is interested and he's sure not starting if he goes there). Plus, Schalke's also in the CL. I reckon if he really want to play more than anything, he'll be at Schalke.

Football wise they may have contributed everything they could but we will miss their occasional elegance, brilliance, and their touches of class. Serving the club for as long as they did is commendable, they both had their positive and negative impacts on the club but the amount of success they have achieved is phenomenal.

Best of luck to them both, I will severely miss Guti's through passes, and I will miss Raul's poaching ability which is always surprising.
