I'm going to miss the cancerous influence Raul and Guti had on Madrid's locker-room. :(

Hopefully this doesn't have the same influence dropping Raul from Spain did.

Both La Gazzetta dello Sport' &l 'Corriere della Sera report an agreement between Inter and Real Madrid for Maicon
as reported the fee is 28 Million Euro plus bonus , let's see if it will be true or not

So what's happening with Ramos?

What Phil said that's what Jose said in his first ever interview as a Madrid manager.
he said he believe Ramos right place is a CB not a RB , he said he think Ramos potential lies in there
and that's why he was after full backs more than CB .
so this season it looks more like
Maicon/Arbeloa-------Pepe/Albiol------Ramos/Garay---------Marcelo/New LB or Marcos Alonso

I don't know why, but I do have a feeling that "El Pony" will be an awesome CB.

Hate the whole idea and hope he'll never be played there! :D

So many people share your thinking , Ramos never say die attitude , height and speed is very handy for a CB .. we've seen him do some crazy things to reach the ball or block a shot.
plus his shirt number belongs to possibly Real & Spain best ever CB ;)

add to the fact he is now the vice captain of the team

I can't imagine Ramos not being able to go forward on the attack. RM's interest in 29yr old Maicon is sooooooo unnecessary.

Madrid problem was always about the midfield .
the space given between the midfield to the defense is hilarious , needless to mention closing up the player to make him less comfortable in passing. some players prefer to watch the game as if they have a VIP pass (Hi Gago )
this was fixed during Capello but only Capello. rest of time it's the same (more or less ) , however i think you are referring to the 6-2 game and the 6-2 exemplify what i'm talking about

the first and most efficient line of defense is always the midfield nowadays .

I think Ramos will be good in the position, its just playing with Pepe there that I can see causing problems on occassion. Neither are exactly the most diplomatic of players shall I say, I can see it being formidable, but also prone to a ridiculous error from time to time, and probably more penalties conceded.

immaculately conceived

It does make that Gerrard/Lampard combo without anyone behind them in midfield look quite ridiculous in the England-USA game. :D

As for Ramos ... meh, don't care. Will he be better in the middle than on the right? Maybe, maybe not, I can imagine a better Ramos. But imagine a Ramos without some trademark "mad cow" moments? No. So if he forms a pair with that other mad cow Pepe, I cant be too bothered at this moment, maybe it changes throughout the season.
