Moroninho with more of his gaming the media & referees in Nyon...In discussing CR and his issues with protection from referees, implied that other simulating players (Perhaps an attempt to take a dig at Leo?) get better protection from the refs...Meanwhile, he had the audacity to suggest CR comes from a 'different' school of football in England under SAF and is more 'honest' when it comes to simulation

Uhh, exsqueeze me? :puke:

Man I love making fun of Madrid as fun of the next guy but really, regret getting rid of Van der Faart? He was wildly inconsistent, at his best maybe better than Kaka but does that really say much? VDV was basically playing like a young Guti, and even that's probably too flattering. What Madrid should have done is ship out him instead of Sneijder in the first place, as Sneidjer was the only pre-Ronaldo Madrid player outside of Higuan that was a constant threat to us.

Even though I think Canales is overrated, he needs time to play and between him and Ozil, VDV was unnecessary.

Yeah because Athletic did a terrible job developing Javi Martinez and Llorente...if anything, Athletic is on the same level if not better than Villarreal right now. The best 5 teams in Spain right now all have a glut of attacking midfielders/second strikers.

Agreed on both topics. Madrid won't feel a thing with VdV's departure. Bilbao is fine and Muniain is too young to move anyway.

so vdv goes from one club where he's not REALLY needed to another club where he's not REALLY needed.

poor guy.

Redknapp has said during pre season he wants to experiment with 4-3-3 and variations of 4-5-1 (so 4-2-3-1 etc) which are most successful in the Champions LEague. 4-4-2 as a system doesn't work in the CL really, and the first leg against Young Boys showed that. A 4-2-3-1 imparticular would be good for Spurs, and explains VdV being purchased.

--------------- Gomes -----------------

Corluka ---- Gallas -- King ----- Bale

------ Huddlestone - Palacios --------

Lennon --------- VdV -------- Modric

--------------- Crouch ------------------

Then look at the versatility of the squad. Modric can play in VdVs position, or Huddlestone's. Kranjcar can aswell, Bale can push up to the LW position with Assou-Ekotto coming in at left back. Whilst Modric and Kranjcar could play in the hole neither has the pedigree for it that Van der Vaart has.

Anyway, enough Spurs talk in the Real Madrid thread. I cannot help but feel Real will regret getting rid of him, though.

But, seriously, with Canales & Ozil in tow, why on earth would VDV be missed?
Because he fought back and he was one of the very few players who Real Madrid fans felt proud of having, because of his spirit, heart, behaviour and any other possible value. Mentally, he is a very strong individual and I, as a Real Madrid fan, will miss him, because there is no player who possesses these values apart of Casillas and maybe Ramos and Xabi. VdV will be remembered and missed by many fans, but not necessarily for his matches and performances, but for the qualities that he represented.
If you people do not understand it, fine, you don't have to, but it's the simplest explanation that you can get.

has he not played a senior game for Mexico?

Actually, not in an official match for El Tri...Which basically means, he could still play for either Brasil or La Furia Roja going forward...Making matters even more interesting with JDS is the fact that the Mexican FA has issued what can only be described as a warning to the player...That by skipping these friendlies and concentrating on Barca, he runs the risk of being omitted in the future

Fortunately for JDS, he has options...And considering how dysfunctional the Mexican FA are, he might be wise to weigh his options more carefully for the future
