Rodrygo

Didn't they buy Vinicius Jr. as well?

Yes. But now they spend another 60m (according to Sport) on him and they play in the same position.

From what I've heard, hopes are not as high for Vinicius as they were.

This kid doesn't look like Vinicius to me. Vinicius looks infinitely more intelligent at the same age and loves a good run in behind the line, which is proven by his role in the U-17s. Rodrygo looks to have this tunnel vision common for youngsters and tends to faff around on the ball, which TBF he's quite good at. He dares to go into tight spaces and comes out of them nicely. The way he drops into the centre reminds more of Kaka than of classic wingers. Positionally he likes to do the same things Odegaard does, isn't anywhere near as smart for the age, but can compete with older defenders with decent balance and fearless contact game.

Problem with guys like Rodrygo is that they don't fare well on the continent when they have to give up the ball in a system. Not sure if it's worth spending 50M on him just to upend Barca's hopes for him, but why not? Better to invest than to do nothing.

Both are talented players but no one in their right mind should be paying that much for either of those two right now.

I read they made an 45m euro offer, not 60? Dont know the guy, but if they buy him, really hope he flops big time in RM, sell him cheap and then flourish somewhere else. Finger crossed.

It's just so risky to spend so much money on two teenagers like Vinicius and Rodrygo, two players who haven't had a lot of time to get accustomed to the Brazilian top level.

The risk is you don't know if these guys would end up being a Neymar or Gabriel Jesus or a Lucas Moura or even worse a Kerrison(Well I can't see that happening though). I guess we will have to wait and see down the line I guess.

I think you are overstating the risk factor. Even Lucas Moura didn't lose that much money for PSG

What’s a Brazilian 22 year old striker with 4 years of top flight experience worth in 2022?? More than 45 million euros

Real is only in a position to gamble like that because they already have a great squad and sold/sell players for good money so it doesn't matter if they waste 50M on Vinicius or this guy here and there.

We simply can't afford to buy 16/17 yo kids right now when we're still in the middle of reconstructing the first team.

I'm not totally against gambles like this, 40-50M is pretty much the new 20M here because top level players don't cost 70-100M anymore but can easily cost like 120-150 and prices will probably rise even more the next years. Griezmann is a bad example here because of his clause, without it he would probably be a 150M player. If one of them turns out to be a (near) world class player and the other becomes at least a decent la liga player the investment was worth it in the long run but that only works if you have the money to waste like this. 100M for two kids is crazy expensive but out of all clubs that don't have unlimited money Real is the one that's in the best position to waste it now. In some years that can look different because Real will get some problems with the squad too like every club has them from time to time.

45 for a kid, because he is brazilian is way too much. The croatian/norwegian/spanish counterparts like Halilovic, Ødegaard and Asensio Was bought for 3-5M€, lets go for them instead.
