Ronald Koeman

This is not truth.

EV in 2017-2019 had a stronger squad and more proven, at least on paper.
Messi was younger, Suarez was there, Busi was younger. You get the picture.

He played more compact defense and slower buildup to accommodate for lack of athleticism.
Our defense was much more solid most of the times but our forward game and goal scoring all depended on Messi or Suarez bailing us out time after time.

We now play younger players, we play faster and more direct at times, we create more chances but miss goals due to Messi's luck or bad finishing and because we don't have a clinical scorer like Suarez.

We have improved in the final third and in passing sequences, but are much worse in defense. Still early days, but this defense will cost us if we don't improve massively.

Pretty good summary. That's how I see it too. Atletico right now with Suarez is going that route too.

I fucking hate Roberto at right back and Busquets should not even be on the bench. These are two things that piss me off.
We need two capable centre backs and a proper DM or box to box midfielder. The attack needs a number nine but at least we are creating chances. Defense is terrible though. Pique and Lenglet suck and Busquets should be playing for a team like Cadiz.

I don't understand why Roberto isn't in midfield?
More mobile than Busquets who has the turning radius of the Titanic.
I would actually try Umtiti out our defense is THAT poor. If average liga clubs are going to tear us apart imagine what the cl elite will do.
A club like Chelsea would beat us 9-1 over two legs.

Yeah, same. Seeing Busquets and Roberto over and over is just SO annoying. Busquets especially, why is Koeman so blind? As for Pique and Lenglet, is Araujo injured? Because if not, it's another ludicrous decision by Koeman.

With Ansu injured, I think that the below will probably be the lineup Koeman will make for the foreseeable future

MATS---Bob, Pique, Lenglet, Alba---Busi, DJ---Dembele, Griezmann, Pedri---Messi

I think the shape of the team is good, I feel that we need to change the personnel to something like:

EDIT: the shape that I'm talking about

Bob for Dest
Lenglet for Araujo
Busi for Pjanic

Dear Barca real funs,
Do you really se any quality in this Griezman? Just curios as to me, it should be benched for ever and any other option should it be given a chance....

Will be interesting to see how he'll fit Coutinho into this side when he's back.
Both Pedri and Dembele deserve to keep their spots for now, so Coutinho should be fighting with Griezmann. And Trincao as the 2nd backup for attack.

There will be plenty of playing time so all attackers will get their chances, except for maybe Braithwaite.

He will be pushed to the left flank and be shit again.

Maybe, but i like the idea of:
Pjanic dj
Dempele pedri coutinho
Messi

Cou was shit with suarez and messi upfront, with rakitic, busi, vidal behind him. Actually, you could see a pattern of shitness in there.
While im more for
Pjanic dj
Dempele cou pedri
Messi

Still, i think with alba overlaping we should be more balanced

Looks much better, and with Dest instead of fucking Bob at RB it will be miles better.

By the way, I want Koeman to try Coutinho as LW again.
He was fantastic there for Liverpool for years (yeah I know Klopp, serious team, etc), and his confidence seems much better than last season under EV.

By the way whatever the heck was that EV was playing was screaming for wingers that can beat opponents and create spaces, something that is not Cou's specialty.
4-2-3-1 is more balanced and Coutinho will be less isolated with more passing options cutting inside from the left.
I am not implying he is better as LW instead of AM, but with no better option there it's our best bet.

Not Koeman's team or tactics, but this is the team he inherited. Can easily see what type of tactics have been successful lately.

That's very interesting. Basically: put the pressure on opponent.. the key. They will mess up.

This is where Suarez and Messi were really hurting Barca.

successful as in what? how did it help juventus or napoli? how did it help dortmund or man city?

aside from the obivous liverpool and bayern, who have good teams anyway, what's to make of this graph? shit teams are still low, good teams are still high.
