Rebuilding this club WILL take time. There is no way around it. You can rule out the title next season too. We have no money and will need to rely on the youngsters developing and free or cheap /smart transfers.

Exactly.

The fact that we are in the top four makes me happy. I honestly thought at the beginning of the season that we wouldn't make cl.
Koeman has done a fine job so far. He has played and developed youngsters, the team is better physically and mentally. The club is a fucking mess in all aspects and none of it is his fault. We don't even have a president ffs.
There is no manager in the world who can do better in the current circumstances.

mate, you're naive or live in a bubble. who would have challenged us for top 4 in this league? valencia? villareal? sociedad?

it's not as if we are competing with oil teams like chelsea or the likes of arsenal, tottenham. teams in la liga are skint.

so koeman doing a fine job by keeping us in top 4 is nonsense. what do you mean by team is better? we are out of all comps by march.

Considering the injuries, yes he is doing a good job. The team is best in La Liga created chances-wise, the youngsters are playing.

I also agree Koeman is doing a good job, but the standards of just making top 4 with a squad still consisting of Messi, Pique, Fati, De Jong, Dembele, Griezmann etc is laughably low.
We still finished 2nd last year and wasn?t like many of the clubs could make many signings in the summer to leave us behind. The 8-2 thrashing has somewhat skewed people?s vision about the standard of the team.

Just having big names doesn't mean success.
The squad is very unbalanced. That's why Koeman wants three players.
Our football is aot better and the team is showing some fight. If we had a genuine nine we would have converted alot more chances.

We have been so bad that yes, I could actually see these teams challenging for top four.

We've had 16 players injured this season, most of them in defense. According to MD Neto and Lenglet are the only players who have not missed any game this season due to injuries in the backline.

There was no single game where we'd have all players available for selection in a matchday squad. In average there are 4 unavailable players in every game (this happened in 20 out of 33 games) and Sevilla game was the one where we've had the most players out.

A mind-blowing one: Barca has been given 228 corner kicks this season and managed to score o n e. Missed 227.

Last time we scored from a corner was Braithwaite against Kyiv.

That's terrible. It's the reason why everyone takes no risk when they play against us and simply kick it out in a corner when pressed, because they know we're crap at corners.

No of course big names means doesn't mean success but the majority of those names were there when we finished, 1st,1st and 2nd in the last three seasons. So all of a sudden this narrative that finishing 4th is a success when apart from the daft decision to give Suarez to a direct rival without a natural replacement. The majority of the core starting 11 is the same.

You've pretty much confirmed that notion though with the genuine nine point, so with the genuine nine, we'd be closer to 1st place.

We are no way close to being the best team in Europe, but we are also nowhere near as bad as being worried that the likes of Bilbao, Villareal etc might pip up us to the final Champions League place.

Koeman does of course need backing, although I really hope we opt for someone other than Memphis Depay. If we want him to get circa 20 goals from our striker, we best allow him to take penalties.

Probably even +EV to get it to the corner then, since Barcelona doesn't take them short as much as before. Surely some counter has lead to a goal.

Even some players you think would be at least decent in the air, like Busquets, are actually terrible in the air.

Not sure if i've ever seen a player of his height being that bad in the air.

He’s fucking terrible isn’t he. Like he’s got bricks for boots.
