Ronald Koeman

Funny thing with Haaland is that there is a strong chance he stays at Dortmund for another season, and gets transferred in 2022.

If Haaland ends up at City (which is likely), I think we should go for Gabriel Jesus.
He is a modern player that can satisfy the demands of the modern game in intensity and pressing, while he has the striker instinct

If they don’t make top 4 doubt he stays. Let’s see where they finish in Bundesliga.

The team has improved quite a lot from the start of the season so that is a good sign, and I am quite optimistic for the future but I do think there is a limit to what the team can achieve with Koeman especially as the other top clubs all have superior coaches.

But the team is not as far away as seemed 6 months ago especially with a new president and there is a buzz around the club and its young players so it is exciting for me to see how far we can go in the next 5 years or so, and Koeman has contributed to the new optimism so for that I think he has done a good job so far.

He will be sacked if he doesn't win anything just because he's Bartos Person.

nope. he would be fired because he's shite.

not winning the copa now would be very stupid. koeman would have been surely sacked if ocampos would have scored that penalty.

so he got his chance. he has to take advantage now and win the final, for his own sake. otherwise he has been pretty woeful in big games all season.

I agree. He's the right man to rebuild the team, but I don't know if he's the one to take it to the next level when we're done rebuilding and want to start winning now and truly challenging for the CL.

Either way, he deserves another season. We're still in rebuild mode.

1) The difference is Fati and Pedri stood out right away at the age of 17. When you put a 17yr old in Barca's XI and you see that they make the team better in most respects, then the trial is successful.
Same about Frenkie. He was transferred in because he was the best midfielder in Europe in 18/19.
Dembele was the best young player in Germany in 16/17.
You have to have strong evidence before you make any such bet.

Can you say the same about Ilaix? No!
Give him playing time, loan him out, see how he develops? Yes, but that's different from saying 'let's bet on Ilaix'

You can't hope to make those risky bets with many players, and the hope at the same time to have a build a competitive team.
Even in the golden team of Pep, you had only Pique, Busi, and Pedro being the bets (each in different year).
All the rest were already proven

Now about him turning 30, that's a valid point and Liverpool is not renewing him for more years because of his age.

Remember this?

Koeman knows well Wijnaldum and I believe he'll be a good signing. Don't think that will hinder Illaix's progress in any way.

On the other end we have Pjanic, who arrived at Barca before Koeman and the Dutchman is clueless how to improve his game.

You fault Koeman for Pjanic?

Wijnaldum would surely work under Koeman, but I would always pick the La Masia talent if he looks good enough and Ilaix does. Its a matter of principle. Wijnaldum would definitely hinder him. You dont need (roughly) the same player type twice.

You're welcome
Don't think Wijnaldum will come to Barca since Koeman will prioritize improvement of other positions. CB and ST.

In Pjanic's case there were rumors very early on in the season he wasn't doing very well in training and struggled with the intensity.

I assumed it was just him coming back from Vacation+Covid. But we are in March and there's not really much Koeman can do about Pjanic, the guy looks way off the pace every time he gets subbed in and even when he starts games. Koeman is actually being way too kind in still giving him minutes in general.

I think covid really did a number on him. I know a couple of people that recovered from it and they feel like it just ate away at all their physical ability

Funny how many Barca journalist and twitter personas want Koeman out, and they push their agenda which involves:

1) Undermining Koeman's achievements thus far this season, while overemphasizing the bad results

2) Advocating of a young upcoming coach at all costs (That's why they super-hyped the leak about Nagelsmann, and a few days later didn't even report the leak about confidence on Koeman), even Xavi who is unproven

3) The worst of all, they linked the prospect of 2 with 'Messi staying' without any evidence.
And not realizing of course that 'Messi staying' might go against 2.

4) All those ridiculously high standards not being applied against EV for the past 3 years.

Media toxicity around FC Barcelona should end.

EV was held to much higher standards than Koeman
