Ronald Koeman

If you know the history of Koeman to FCB and Laporta with Koeman, you just knew that K-Dawg was never going to be let go. Especially now that he has found his groove and we are on a run of results.

Not the best manager for in-game changes but you can see he and his team (Super Huge Head guy esp) are working things out well on the training ground.

Fearless in giving the youth a chance, which is good as we have the strongest generation of talents coming through in atleast a decade.

His handling of Puig is a disaster. But fine, everyone have their favourites, and I can accept that he doesn't rate Puig. That player is not more important than the club.

It is always hard to look at a manager from the outside, you can never know what was said, and what the plan really was etc.
But I don't think I ever saw a team have so many bad performances in a season where it looks as if the manager is to blame for it, as if his plan didn't work out.
As Barcelona have a great squad and some really great players, most of the time they will win however you play them, but quite often it has almost looked as if Koeman made it as hard as possible for them.
He has had some success with subs recently, but many many times they have been disastrous.

Results wise, Barcelona are in the CdR final, but look at the way they reached it! Extra time against Cornella, Granada, bare minumum against Sevilla and Rayo. Total failure in the supercopa, and failed to reach QF in the Champions league for the first time since before Pep. In the league, the projected points with this average point per game is 83, which is one point more than last year to be honest, but clearly lower than any other year in recent memory.
If Barcelona manages to win the double after all, it will look great, but would it be because of Koeman?

He didn't get Depay or Wijnaldum. I am sure he would perform slightly better if he got them, but it would be very bad for the club going forward. I think he will destroy a lot if he stays and if he gets more say.

Koeman has been exactly what team needed.

Strong personality to lead young players and more experienced ones through one of if not most disruptive seasons in the clubs history.

Has put the energy and style of play back into the team and if Barca manage to win double it will have been a huge achievement for him. Even if they just win the league.

Barca needed a leader back in dressing room and that is what Koeman has given above all else.

Doing it while giving minutes to more young players than any coach can remember.

He's also shown he is willing to adapt by changing the system twice from his preferred 4-2-3-1 to a more traditional 4-3-3 which looked like a mess defensively to this more stable back three.

Yup, the development of youngsters has been fantastic. Also, he deserves credit for being flexible in terms of adjusting his initial thoughts on what the best system was.

Many managers would fail to admit they were wrong and persist with it.

Agree with all the above, but let me shout it once again:

After a loooong time in which the authority of the coach has been undermined, the best remedy should be an authoritative coach with a strong personality who can re-impose discipline. Koeman is precisely that.

With Schreuder as his right hand, he is also tactically competitive as we saw with the experimentation of formation /player role which allowed the team to progress in playing style and win ties.

Not good enough.

I pointed out his ridiculous decisions early on in the season.

Had he acted faster we wouldn't have lost 4-1 to psg nor would Atletico be leading.

He had no reason to take as long as he did to dump 4231 everyone could see the defence was in fucking shambles.

Yes, we all know only Ernie Valverde could've made this squad play up to its potential

The funny thing is that the warning signs with Koeman are absolutely there. Those like Messigicicicician and Bob have a legitimate point.

But with his youth integrations and lack of transfer budget that we hold (which Ernie and those before had) means who is a better option?

Koeman has won over the dressing room, he's fair but he's firm (thanks Joe Cortez) so there is no need to go against that progress. No point going for someone like Nagelsmann, The Pocch or Gallardo who tactically look superior but cold fold over here like a wet fart.

It is what it is.

I think it will be a great time to introduce Xavi, say goodbye to the frenchmen, maybe bring Haaland if Xavi wants and then hopefully have an even larger focus on la masia. From what I've seen, Nico or Orellana could and should play before Pjanic, and it would be preferrable to play Collado and Konrad instead of Griezmann and Dembele...

I was positive to Koeman when he was introduced, and I won't say he disappointed me if he leaves after this year. But I expected him to stay for one year, go his own way, and then leave - not start to shape the club in his image, I don't think he is competent for that. But he was perfect as an interim who wouldn't be too easy for the players to manipulate, but bring decent results while phasing out a few players whilst waiting for Xavi to be ready.

Xavi is an extremist, and he has the authority. I think he has everything to be a success. Of course it is set up, with all the expectations, for him to be a big failure, but he will get his chance sooner or later and I think this summer would be a perfect time. Maybe there are some things I don't know about in relation to Qatar or to his former team mates, though, and it would be better to wait. Then I agree that Koeman could be a decent option for another year.

Maybe Xavi could join after the World Cup with Felix Bas. That would be 2 seasons time and you would have to imagine that everyone who played with Xavi would be gone by then.

3 years seems the average term for a decently running project. Of course it depends if Koemans term improves in the second season like Rijkaard or regresses like Ernie.

Koeman should be given another season. Think that's obvious at this point. And even if Barca wanted to replace him, that person shouldn't be Xavi. I can't stand this trend of hiring inexperienced coaches just because they are the club's legends. It working with Pep doesn't mean much. There are other, less successful examples to look at. And more realistic, since Pep is one of the best ever. Xavi should stop this money hunt in Qatar and come coach in Europe.

I'd prefer Nagelsmann over him as our next coach.

I have criticized him a lot during the season but i have to say he deserves another season. We are playing good football, have turned the sevilla match in copa, dominated PSG away and are in a good position to win la liga title after being 10 points behind.
