Ronald Koeman

Koeman should be given another season. Think that's obvious at this point. And even if Barca wanted to replace him, that person shouldn't be Xavi. I can't stand this trend of hiring inexperienced coaches just because they are the club's legends. It working with Pep doesn't mean much. There are other, less successful examples to look at. And more realistic, since Pep is one of the best ever. Xavi should stop this money hunt in Qatar and come coach in Europe.

I'd prefer Nagelsmann over him as our next coach.

This is not the way my reasoning goes for why Xavi could be great and would be the best option now.

Since it probably got lost in the wall of text, summary of results under Koeman:

Liga:
Projected points is 83, which is about as low as last season, and worse than any other post-Pep season.
CL: Embarrased by Juve in group stage, then embarrassed by PSG. Didn't reach QF for the first time since Rijkaard.
CdR: Reached the final with the help of maximum luck in almost every leg, even against Cornella.
Supercopa: Shamefully did not manage to win this one. Lucky to reach the final as well.

Yes "he" has introduced some young players, but what old players have been kept out? Pjanic and Braithwaite, the others have played when fit. He was desperate for Depay and Wijnaldum...

If he manages to go almost clean from here, reach close to 90 points and win the cup, then I guess he will have a case to stay (unfortunately). But I think he has made a lot of mistakes and have his players to thank for the results, which at least at this point are not very good. I don't have a hard time seeing Barcelona lose the final and reach even less than 83 points though, and in that case I guess Koeman would only have benching Pjanic and Braithwaite as his case to stay...

If wins double will be one of best in clubs history from the starting point and everything has happened since last summer.

Some folk get hysterical about Puig and build 'reasons' from there.

You're welcome

1. We are also kind of unlucky with the chances we create but lack of goals we score. Also unlucky with some huge @*#(-ups with individual defensive mistakes. Kind of how you look at it.
2. It also says something team doesn't give up til final minute. It shows a solid mentality. Remember Koeman was able to overturn scores in second-half on more than one occasion with Dutch NT.

1. Sure, in some games it has been that way. Overall, according to this site, we overperform our xP, xG (very slightly) and xGA in the liga. https://understat.com/league/La_liga/2020
2. Yes there have been some good comebacks. The team seems to be dependent on mental state, sometimes it's been good and sometimes bad. This is where I had high hopes on Koeman, and to some degree he has delivered.

I have criticized him a lot during the season but i have to say he deserves another season. We are playing good football, have turned the sevilla match in copa, dominated PSG away and are in a good position to win la liga title after being 10 points behind.

For me his errors in the first half of the season and up to the 1-4 are too much. I would only give him a second season if we 1) won (no ifs or buts) the Copa and if we 2) finish second in the Lague or even win it (both could happen and since we dropped so many points in the first half of the season it's not a solid expectation for me).

For example: it's very frustrating that he has only gotten things 'right' or 'better' at the moment. The 1-4 was TOTALLY avoidably given how well we played in the second leg. That to me is basically unforgivable.

I know what you mean but i think at the moment we wont get a top coach, just another average coach so imo we should hold him and see how we will play next season.

Some folk talk as if we were destined for a treble before the season started. Last summer we were a complete shambles. He has steadied the ship and put us in contention for a domestic double, while incorporating many young players into the setup. What more do you want, especially in a ?rebuild? season?

It's one of those seasons that ended up having to use what we have while incorporating youngsters in the process and changing formations and tactics.

One thing I was surprised with was Koeman was willing to leave the 4-2-3-1 which was his favorite formation when it wasn't working and changed things up and instead of being completely stubborn and trying to make it happen even though we just didn't have the certain manpower needed to make it work.

Barca used to be a club that was all about long term philosophy, building from talent and having the right people at the right places. It?s what made Barca great.

Now I read posts wanting Koeman out after both manager and players finding rhitme after only half a year -after the club was in shambles, having shat out three failed managers before him, having no money to work with and Messi wanting to leave.

Sure, get a new manager. See what switching manager each season- because the fans are used to prices each season; demanding overpriced players and has-been managers in the proces - gets you. Kind regards, Manchester United, AC Milan and much others.
