Ilaix has no reason why he should play instead of Puig, in a position that requires Pedri's and Puig's skillset the most. I've said between the match that the midfield was unbalanced. And that the same thing happened vs Villareal, even with one extra player.

Ilaix has been better than Puig when got chances.
Puig adds nothing to that side but more of same that was not working.

Easily. Ilaix can play fine if De Jong's role is changed. You can't have two players driving forward, to join offense at the same time, because the midfield would lack the proper players to progress the ball effectively. That's why Busi was trying low percentage passes left and right because the support in midfield was low from De Jong and Moriba. They were rarely in the proper position to ensure proper ball circulation.
Ilaix is disappointing in the possession department. Really an odd Barca player, seems to lack the qualities we usually develop the most in La Masia midfielders. Yes, he is strong, and he can shoot fine, but is slow, technique in short spaces is poor, and his movement is average.
