Can someone explain this to me.. U sub dembele in to play at right wing.. 2 minutes later u sub trincao in to play in the right wing and dembele moves to the left!!!!! This means to my humble intelligence that u have no design in mind prior to making substitutions other than substitutions sake!! Minimum required is for u to have an idea where the substitutions will play in the fucking pitch and why!!

Easily. Ilaix can play fine if De Jong's role is changed. You can't have two players driving forward, to join offense at the same time, because the midfield would lack the proper players to progress the ball effectively. That's why Busi was trying low percentage passes left and right because the support in midfield was low from De Jong and Moriba. They were rarely in the proper position to ensure proper ball circulation.

Completely wrong!
Your argument applies against sides that press aggresively in the mid 3rd of the pitch, and NOT against deep parked buses.
Ball progression is in danger only in the first case.

Ball circulation was fine until the ball reached the area outside the box where Messi would receive and try something.
And precisely at this point you need players to occupy the box, hence Frenkie AND Illaix.

The issue isn't even Ilaix. It is that when Koeman brings him on he likes to keep him as this psuedo-striker reducing us to a midfield 2. Sure, Ilaix is good arriving to the box with the element of surprise but just sitting him there takes away from our midfield and takes away from Ilaix game too. It is like having Paulinho and just sticking him as striker.

Pjanic and Puig are better CMs than Moriba.

Keeping the proportions, playing Moriba, Busi, and De Jong, is like starting Busi, Keita, and Yaya Toure in a midfield 3. You'd have a very unbalanced midfield with no central midfielder.

Felt like I was watching Bar?a from 10 years ago when the only option left was moving Pique at centre forward and prey for something to happen

No, fast ball circulation is needed against any form of defense. You need movement and quick passing both to ditch pressing setups, and to dispatch deep blocks to create spaces between the lines.

Not really Pjanic had one of the highest key passes rate in the world and can split a defence with his varied passing range.

It's schoolboy stuff you Koeman fanboy

'split a defense' LOL
Show me that stat, I am sure you messed up the definition of a 'key pass'

Pjanic even at Juve was never 'spiting defenses'. These are the passes Busi is playing
The only pass that Pjanic can play, and Busi is not playing, is long over the top pass that is completely useless against a deep parked bus

Only if this circulation takes place within the deep block,
hence in the areas where Messi Griezman are operating.

Nothing to do with the areas you want Puig to play

Ball circulation was not fine. I think this was a game from the Valverde days, I'd be surprised if Roberto didn't register the most touches, like in peak EV days, where the fullbacks played the most passes in nearly every game due to poor central progression (classic Busi - Rakitic - Vidal ).

Busi - Moriba - De Jong was a sort of Koeman-version EV midfield "chemistry".

When you have a poor midfield movement and passing, the by-product of that is a dramatic increase in the number of fullback touches.

Moriba should have had about 200% more touches than he did tonight. At a minimum.
