Pimienta would still be a big gamble. Don't think he'll struggle too much with authority considering he literally coached the likes of Messi and Pique when they were kids even though ofc it's different now, but there is some familiarity there where he won't be tossed aside by them.

Lack of experience at the top level and how he fares there under pressure having never coached or played at that level might be bigger issues.

I'd say yes. If Laporta is a brave and bold (which we know he is) and none of the idealist coaches want the job for one reason or another (Pep, Xavi) then Pimienta is a strong option to have Barcelona playing in an attractive way.

My observation is that he would lean on seniority while also being the closest to understand the level and potential of the youth players. I don't see a problem with that, even if Busquets, Aguero, Roberto are starters. Reason being because he has made players that looked far good players in the B team, extremely functional and improved their whole games towards the teams system and goals. Guys like Rey Manaj, Dani Morer, Cuenca. So I think he can bring the best of our current mid-level players and those looking to prove a point.

A year ago I would say no as I selfishly really like how he has co-ordinated the B team and want to see that continue. But now I would be open to give him a shot.

BTW another guy who has made good achievements since leaving Barcelona (although probably won't want to leave until after World Cup) is Felix Sanchez Bas. He won the Asian Cup with Qatar while playing great football. The only way I say he could be an option is the opportunity to be Barcelona manager, with Xavi becoming the Qatar manager.

Yeah, this is obviously the big thing for any manager anywhere, or even any leader - to understand the strengths and the weaknesses and to magnify the former and hide the latter.
It's a shame the way so many other clubs utilize players from Barcelona so well, while Barcelona themselves only keep the ones that have already won everything.
If Pimienta truly understands how to make use of this type of player - with the DNA - he can be a great option. It's better than someone who sort of understands how to use dutch players in a 4231, and who needs to bring in a lot of players from elsewhere...

Pimienta seems to understand that everything is not black and white. I think about the way he described working with Araujo f.e. He also talks about preparing himself for if the club needs him in the A-team.
I am positive towards him and think he can be a good option then, and I believe any coach to be a gamble. That he is very well known to the club should make him less of a gamble if anything.

Laporta appeared to confirm Koeman had a health scare and ended up in hospital this week, but Koeman's camp say that's 'nonsense'

Its funny how XAVI does not want to work to get the job. Does not want to manage the B team, does not want to manage any other team in Eruope but would rather manage a team in QATAR.

And wants to think he has a god given right to manage Barcelona, the greatest team of all time, without proving hmself anywhere.

Laporta only confirmed that Koeman went to the hospital because of a health scare, but that he's fine now. News of this was everywhere last night. Should he have confirmed it? Probably not.

Koeman's agent blasting him in a Dutch newspaper is not going to make it any better. No way he just went to the hospital to have his blood pressure checked, that is so BS, nor did Laporta claim Koeman has health issues or any serious health problems.

Koeman and his agent should worry about such things being reported and leaked in the first place.

If there were any chances for Koeman to continue things like this will ensure he won't. You cannot have Lluis Canut leak stuff you want to get leaked and then blow something out of proportion and attack the man who will decide whether you'll still be under employment or not lol.

He literally didn't, doubt he even did it with Roberto.
His career as coach started in 2006, Messi alreasy had 1st season and Pique was on loan to Zaragoza

No matter what, Laporta should not have mentioned Koeman's health (heart) situation. There was no excuse to mention it.

And that 15-day thing is indeed ridiculous. You either keep him or sack him.

Low from Laporta that and leaves open to legal action most likely not that Koeman would go down that road.

It feels like Laporta is trying to get Koeman to quit to save on paying out. Acting quite cunty in this situation.
