Well it was already common knowledge he was at the hospital, so we'll have to agree to disagree in both cases.

Inter, Real, Juve.. all undergo managerial changes with no drama involved. Yet Barca's president addresses the public saying he'll try to look for someone better but Koeman will suffice if such isn't found. And that he needs 15 days for it. Why even do it? Just dumb.

The question is if a Barca legend should walk away or ask for a compensation package, knowing the clubs' struggles with money.

Sure, (not sure on the 8mil thing) granted he does get compensated a more than fair amount. I don?t think he did it for the money as the Dutch NT coach hardly gets chump change. Koeman said throughout his coaching career that he would never say no to Barca when te opportunity comes, and it came. He stepped in while Messi wanted to leave, Bartomeu left the club in shambles and with no money to improve te squad. He could get a little respect for that. Not the way he is treated now.

Look, I?m not saying Koeman should stay. This is just not the kind of behavior you want associated with a rich historical club like Barca. Especially after last year, especially after hoeing your club out to the super league. Plus the 15-day thing just looks like bad management. What is this, your local pub-team?

I agree that a backup plan should have been established, especially considering that our new President just took over and clearly desires to put his own positive mark on the club. However, Koeman must also have been aware of the sensitive situation he stepped into when he accepted the position within an election period. Personally, I feel grateful towards Koeman for steadying the ship, so to speak and giving our promising youngsters more than a shot at proving themselves. However, now it?s time to compete ?in style? and win titles. Should the decision be made to move on without Koeman, he?ll be well compensated and thanked for his time here. But yes, I agree, the ?ma?ana? type decision making could have
Been handled more professionally.

well, comparison was there for the taking i guess. and as in suarez case, most fans want koeman gone. so it's easier no to feel bad about the whole thing.

nobody rioted over suarez being dumped. nobody will riot if koeman gets dumped.

No one is going to riot it is just about way it is being done and mentioning health etc.

For me I wish club was more ruthless if anything but telling coach there is two weeks and if cant find a replacement achieves nothing for anyone.

It was Koeman's camp that made the 15 days stuff public. All Laporta said was that they will further analyze the situation and haven't decided anything yet. The quote about him not being Laporta's favourite is fake. He never said that.

Bartomeu giving Koeman a 2-year contract (well, and Koeman signing it) was incredibly disrespectful.

Other side of it is how can they start having conversations with many players that seemingly dont want to leave.

Would think most of them will dig in even more now and wait to see what next coach thinks.

All authority Koeman had is gone and his time is up now. Players wont respect a coach there who club dont really want.

Just dead time now.

I predict Koeman will go with compensation packer delayed for a year or more or they will have to put him on gardening leave and take in a coach who gets paid peanuts this season to be compensated further on.

No they dont. What utter garbage and would be met with legal issues if clubs start disclosing medical record/issues with any of their staff.

Great way to make top coaches take an even wider berth than they are now.

Why should Koeman or anybody for that matter let the whole world know every time they go see a doctor? No, the socis and the fans don't need to know. Not to mention it was a regular checkup, apparently, not a life and death sort of serious situation. Privacy exists even for public figures.

Should Laporta release his medical history and let us know every time he goes to see his doctor?

What makes the Barca job so stressful compared to other top European clubs? You would think a job like coaching Arsenal FC and Man U would be more stressful due to their great heights in the past. I mean look at Lucho and EV, both aged like 10-15 years in their short stints here. Even Tata Martino didn't look so good after his one year here
