Probably for the best. Don't misstreat a legend for nothing since we're not connected to any interesting names that could really improve us. Also, for Koeman is do or die season so the added pressure could maybe light a fire under his ass.

It's looking like Ronald Koeman will continue at the club because no viable alternatives have been found to replace him as manager.

? ESPN

Lmfao, whatever.

Conte, Valverde, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Gallardo all available

I'd take any of those over Koeman but it is what it is.

Decision is made so get behind the manager and suppprt him all the way!

I think it was bound to happen. They couldn't afford to pay him off and there are no alternatives ready and available.

No way Koeman would willingly walk, lets be honest he's not getting offered a job like this anywhere else for the rest of his career so why would he go. In that aspect I don't blame him.

"Barcelona’s board is planning on confirming the continuity of Ronald Koeman tomorrow"

"Ronald Koeman has agreed to change a part of his fixed salary into variables. In addition, his new contract will have an option to continue for an additional year IF only certain objectives are met"

Se Queda

He’ll be sacked mid December and we will pay him less cause Laporta changed a part of his contract to variables. 5D chess by Laporta.

Doubt Cruyff is offered the coaching job. We still don't know if he will be hired or not. If he is he'll essentially take over what used to be Abidal's role and work with Planes while Alemany is their boss.

They just weren't convinced by someone like Xavi or ten Hag to pay Koeman 12m to hire them.

Laporta told Koeman that there should be a more offensive game and that a 4-3-3 formation would be the formation and there would be no negotiation about it.

That's absolutely ridiculous from Laporta.
He has no business dictating the formation of the team.
He is not a coach, never have been one, he knows shit about tactics in football, he should keep his mouth shut about these things.
It's different to say 'I want offensive football' than saying what the formation should be.
Besides, we played the best games of the season in a 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 formation.

That's absolutely unacceptable

I imagine negotiations went something like this.

He absolutely has the right to put forward demands and the direction the team will go the next few years. Not too different from Bayern's top brass always talking about how the 4-2-3-1 was their preferred system.

Koeman is merely a placeholder for the next manager to complete the rebuild they're planning.

Besides I doubt he meant Koeman should only play a 4-3-3 all the time, but base his tactics around that formation and system which make sense given that's been Barca's bread and butter forever along with the 3-4-3, and are the systems our academy uses.

Now if the game demands you to change it to a 4-2-3-1 or something else which Pep and others did before him then that won't be a problem.

No you are terribly wrong mate.

I wrote already that demanding 'offensive football' can be OK from a president.
When this generic 'offensive football' has to become more specific a president has no say about it.
It's not within his realm of authority to demand anything in regards to the formation.

On the contrary, it's an alarming sign indicating someone who doesn't know where the boundaries of his business are and where they end

PS: Now here are some first indications why Font had a more correct vision of the role of the president

Koeman is hardly a tactical mastermind himself. Man's gotten fired or been forced to resign from five or six different teams. Rarely have I seen a manager make his team worse with the subs he makes. Not to forget his 3-5-2 system collapsed towards the end of the season anyway.

As long as Koeman isn't explicitly forced to play a 4-3-3 all the time it's no issue. Like I said he's a placeholder. Unless he obviously exceed expectations.

Ngl Koeman probably need all the help and direction he can concerning his tactics.

Koeman is not deciding the tactical plan alone. Schreuder plays the crucial role there, and Schreuder is a tactical mastermind.
But that's irrelevant.

You cannot interfere in the authority of the manager just because he is a mere 'placeholder'.
Apart from disrespectful, it's stupid from Laporta's part, because Laporta has nothing to do with football tactics.
And if this is coming from an idealism ("barca had always been playing 4-3-3"), that's even worse
