Ronaldo

I remember the first time I saw Ronaldo. I was 7 or 8 years old and all the guys from my neighbourhood were all talking about him , the things that he would do on the field and the ways he done it. After that , even though I didn't see him in my life , whenever somebody would ask me what football player I like , I always said Ronaldo. After a while there was Brasil playing with some team and Ronaldo was playing too and the instant I saw him , it was like seeing a saint , or Jesus. My mouth just dropped . Beeing from a country that has a poor level of fotball ( compared to the top 3 leagues ) I have never seen anyone do the things he done. In the next day I went with my mom and bought a shirt with him. Since then no other player had such a first impact one me even though I consider Messi to be the best ever. It's a shame he got injured because now we will never know how he would have played at his full potential.

"I have watched that game on video so many times since then, trying to work out what I did wrong. We lost 3-0 but I don’t think now it was my fault. Ronaldo was simply unstoppable" -- Nesta

When that interview was taken:

-NY had twin towers

-The top selling album according to Billboard was Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory.

-R&B singer Aaliyah was tragically killed in a plane crash.

-Apple was preparing to introduce a 5GB mp3 player called the iPod. Unfortunately it's distribution would be limited because it was only compatible with mac computers, which weren't very popular.

-The Xbox and Gamecube were introduced to compete with the dominant PS2 with (bestselling games Grand Theft Auto 3 and Metal Gear Solid 2) and Dreamcast. Nintendo released the Gameboy Advance.

-The defending World Cup champions were France.

-Real Madrid, lead by star striker Raul in his prime wins La Liga. Barcelona would finish the season in 4th place behind Madrid, Depor and Mallorca. The following year Valencia would top Madrid and Depor.

-Roma were champions of Italy.

-Barcelona would sign the "next Maradona", a River Plate star named Javier Saviola.

-Lionel Messi was 14 years old.
