Samuel Umtiti

Who rests Masch? :p

Many players were overplayed last season, Busi the most. But I wouldn't want to burn Masch either.

I have a feeling this is Masch's last season for us. He wants to play in Italy before coming back to Argentina, and I can really see him joining Alves at Juve next season.

If he wants to leave next season, I don't think he would have pushed for a contract renewal. Even though he recently declared his wish to stay at Barca for longer, me think he will leave in '18 (after WC). But truth be told, I'd like to see Umtiti given a bigger role this season.

I think Mascherano will stick by his word and stay for a season or two. as for Mathieu? I do think this could be potentially his last season here with us. With Umtiti signing with us Mathieu's game time will greatly diminish. Mathieu's age and injury concerns with his Knee and Calf are working against him as well.

But it also depends on whether or not Lucho stays, he could stay until his contract expires and continues playing as the old veteran in the squad despite having reduce game time.

When does Lucho's contract expire? I don't think he should stay more than 4 years total, personally.

yes, because there is an abundance of coaches who are familiar with the barcelona structure inside and out and have reasonable coaching acumen.

What "Barcelona structure" has Lucho stuck to since arriving? Certainly not our style of play or use of our young players.

It expires next summer. We want to Renew him but he wants to wait until the end of the season to make that judgement.

So this could potentially be his final season, then. I don't like waiting until last minute. He should at least come to a decision by January, so we can start looking for a replacement if he chooses not to renew.

i know its your personal opinion, but he has won the same amount of trophies Pep had at the beginning of his 3rd year. Trophy wise, hes as good as Pep so far, and thats saying alot.

But Lucho will never get the credit Pep gets though. He's still not highly regarded among neutrals.

He's won as many trophies but he's not nearly the coach Pep was. He's a very "right now" kind of manager, and while it brings good results, when he leaves he'll have left nothing behind but the trophies he brought, something any other top coach could also bring. The longer he stays, the older our XI shall get. Even with all our young signings, their chances don't look great unless something in Lucho changes.

I guess we should hope he never leaves then!
