"He could't have kept cruyff because there would have been carnage"

This is just solid gold. I guess we know now what counts as a "fact" and a worthy argument.

I don't think there's ever been a person as wrong and as difficult as jamdav in the history of mankind. Completely oblivious to basic communication principles, common sense and reason. Seriously though, it's a talent. Respect.

If you think it would have been the right thing to do to have Cruyff and Rosell both at the club then go ahead.

It would never have worked and Cruyff is too opinionated to have in a club where he doesn't get on with the president. It would have been absolutely the wrong thing to do. It was clear to anyone who voted for Rosell that Cruyff would go. Rosell campaigned for a change of board to that of Laporta.

Do you really think Cruyff would have stayed under Rosell. If you do I don't think you understand the situation whatsoever.

I don't know if you'll understand but it's all in the ways...

Cruyff can be an asshole sometimes, but most culés have a soft spot for him, so dealing with him should be a delicate issue... Instead, what did Rosell do? Start random gossip out of nowhere and go to the press to give vague statements about his position against Cruyff... Are those not facts? Check the press when all that mess started...

Surely Cruyff acted like a child and his ego and primadonna attitude didn't help the situation as he clearly had nothing to lose, but if Sandro didn't anticipate that, then that's his mistake... He poked the beehive and then wanted to run away...

"Me and my family for some time have suffered attacks that make me wonder if it's worth being president."

"In recent days there have been unfair criticisms against me, coming from the national courts. I insist that everything that happened in the transfer of Neymar was correct."

These sound like the words of a man that is genuinely telling the truth and has simply had enough and stepped down for the sake of him and his families own welfare. I would actually laugh if nothing was wrong in the end, especially with some of the things that are being thrown around about the club.

You're quite naive...
When a similar thing occurred involving cbf and ricardo teixeira, the cbf president some time ago, rosell advised him to resign, just like he did now. They're friends, and teixeira is corrupt to the bone. The problem rosell has with the brazilian justice, is of shady business involving cbf and teixeira.

Rosell's biggest problem was and is the fact that he is a hard headed businessman. To him Barca was primarily a business and secondly a football club. His signature signing (Neymar) is now coming to bite him in the rear end. He saw Neymar firstly as a marketers dream and secondly as a player. The $ signs were ringing in his head. He had no connection to the fans whatsoever so there are very few to support him.

95 million is a freakin outrage. Come on. First we heard 40 million, then 57 million and now the figure could be higher. The whole affair is a fiasco. Its no wonder they didn't bring in any other players. Simply put we couldn't afford it after Neymar's signing.

The whole board should go. Since Jordi Cases has started this whole affair he should finish it too. Gather 15% and get a new election. The problem is which candidate is viable??? I don't see anyone but I must admit my knowedge of Catalan fame & power is limited.

Would love to see Cruyff run but it wont happen.

I wonder how the players are feeling? Probably pi$$ed off from all the distractions and the constant circus that surrounds the club.

You're talking as if € 95M is a fact when in reality it's a number coming from a former MARCA editor who called Pep a fascist, accused Barca of doping and insisted that Neymar's fee was € 140 M just a couple of months ago. Rosell still insisted that the fee is € 57M by the way and it might still hold up in court. If this happens he'll look like a noble man who told the truth and only stepped aside because of dead threats to his family and to protect the image of the club. He might come back for the 2016 elections stronger than ever. Meanwhile his friend Bartomeu would hold his place warm. Just a thought.

Could does not imply acceptance as fact, might want to read more carefully

BTW, it's amusing to read back at the beginning of this thread and all the prognostications about Rosell & his likely tenure...Cule Angles must be beside himself

Sandro Rosell had been considering his future as president of Barcelona ever since an unsavoury episode in December, when his family home in the Catalan capital was attacked by gunshots.

The incident occurred over the Christmas holidays, when Rosell, his wife and their two daughters were away, meaning nobody was hurt in the attack.

The 49-year-old called in the Catalan police, the Mossos d'Esquadra, who confirmed that the marks left on the property had come from a gun attack.

Rosell's wife Marta Pineda and his parents have been trying to convince the businessman to step down from his post as Barca president ever since the incident and the Catalan finally decided to quit his post on Thursday, telling his fellow board members at the club's EGM: "My family will be very happy with this decision."

Rosell, who is also in the spotlight for alleged misappropriation of funds in the transfer of Neymar to Barca from Santos last summer, cited his family as one reason for his departure in a brief media appearance on Thursday.

If ya take fee of 57 million leaves 40 million so if barca bought out his image rights agent fees an signing on fee it soon adds up ya especially for a big name player like neymar it would prob have been same when real signed ronaldo etc

Since the details of the Neymar transfer has now been made public, why did Rosell really resign? There is nothing scandalous or incriminating in the 17M + 40M transfer and, personally, I don't belive he resigned because of threats to his family.
