Sandro Rosell

It wasn't a Laporta team. It was a Txiki/Rijkaard/Pep team. Laporta enabled it by taking the correct risks that paid off. In terms of spending it as 55M+bonuses for Alexis and Cesc. 4M have already been paid for Alexis. So the total spending could end up closer to 110M for the two seasons. 110M might not be 'huge', but for the club with the highest wage bill in Spain it's not that bad really.

We signed Alexis for 26M + 11M bonuses ,Cesc for 29M + 5M bonuses ,the minimum of the 2 deals is 55M,with possible 16M added as bonuses
So 55+33=88 ,you say we paid 4M for Alexis ,that is 92 not 110
That amount isn't good at all for a team like Barcelona ,but it can be acceptable with a good Director who knows how to spend it ,that is why the combination of Rosell and Zubizarreta is just not working in our favor

Joan Laporta (ex-president): "I have been thinking seriously about running for president again, but I didn't yet make a decision." [dpa]

I think he'll run again. It would be interesting to see who the socis trust more. If Laporta promised to take the sponsor away I'd vote for him.

you got it, Rosell "inherited" a great team. His impact on the team so far has been minimal but bad. He stuck to Tito after Pep left even when Pep warned of Tito's health issues. Question is Tito %100 for next year? I hope so for his own sake.
Why did we buy Song (whom I like) instead of getting a real defender? defense was our problem from last year. Rosell wants Neymar and there are some that say, bring the kid and pay the big bucks. Revenue from selling the Brazilian's shirt will offset his cost plus if he turns out to be a flop (which I predict he will) we'll just put him on the market. This means more sad news next year! instead of spending on things we need we're getting what we don't need.

Then there is this thing about Rosell and Qatar and let's not even go there! I can't wait to see this guy get kicked off for good, until then more sad news.

This.

I always loved that idea that the shirts of the club were something sacred, something sacrosant and if Rosell knew this he would have sold them out to the highest bidder. The fact that when we did have a sponsor it was Unicef made this even more perfect. It's one of the many great decisions that Laporta made.

Well, we won 3 CL titles without one... We could have done without those 30m in the last 2 years tbh.

What does the CL have to do with it? I'm not saying that successful clubs have it, I'm saying that big clubs have it. As in, in the modern time. Things were a lot different in terms of sponsorship even 5-6 years ago, compared to what they are now.

There is no point crying about the sponsorship. Rosell has whored the club and we have to deal with it. Besides we need the money. Any sort of revenue is welcome and the club needs to reduce its debt.

Laporta would be interesting. Suppose if we dont return to the golden era again under him? Suppose if our debt spirals out of control?

I think Laporta would win hands down. Fans including myself just dont trust Rosell.

Why the fuck would Barca give up 30 mil. € per season just not to wear a shirt sponsor ? What is wrong with some people here !? Every major club has a shirt sponsor, pay Uniced 10mil.€ per season if you want, that way they will benefit more instead of us wearing their shirt and paying 1mil.€. One season of shirt sponsor deal = two-year Messi's salary.

The same fans who are stingy to pay 5-6 million more for Neymar/Thiago Silva accuse Rosell of 'whoring' out Barca.

I wonder what their reactions would be if, a few ways down the road (Ted says hi), we were forced to sell Iniesta/Messi/Thiago like Milan had to do with Kaka/Thiago Silva.
