I think the shirt sponsor deal was necessary. I know it was against the values of many supporters bit if we want to compete with the financial behemoths of Madrid, United, PSG etc then we have to run the club as a business. United signed a 357 million pound deal over 7 years. We would get left behind without sponsorship money.

Its not so much being against it as it being a bad deal, for 110 years of history at a point where we were the best and most watched team in the world, we should have gotten more the 35m for what is more than a shirt sponsorship but Qatar being where where in the club, the next round of deals deals like the one man utd sign is only now just showing it up.

United have a far bigger fanbase than us worldwide though, in fact no one can compete with them in those stakes. I know a lot of people dislike Rossell but he appears to be a a financially clever, he is a but like our version of Perez perhaps? Our club value and revenue are increasing rapidly and going after players like Neymar should see this continue.

Yeah, I think Rosell is the right man during these economic times.

I don't understand why everyone is getting so upset over the shirt sponsor, though. We have a Nike Swoosh for a long time, and the whole club has been monetised anyway.

These are economic realities; we cannot let other clubs get financial advantages because of some superficial, muddleheaded principle.

And you actually think Laporta would not have done the same thing? Unicef on the shirt was just a brilliant way of easing us into the idea in the a shirt sponsor anyway

That would be true if he'd come out and say that FCB will have a sponsor on shirt.Instead he signed a deal with ''Qatar Foundation'' :lol:and now we get the real deal..
Also his economic policy is inconsistent. You can't claim you want to balance club's finances and at the same time spend over 60M for Cesc and Alexis (good players but overpriced) and next year 40M or so for Neymar..

I think we're no more than a year away from Rosell's plan to fully dismantle Laporta's success and usher in his own vision of a Barcelona future - which means, end of the hegemony and return to inconsistency

You can if the clubs revenue increases, which it has been doing. Last season Barca made a record profit.

I would love for Laporta to make a comeback and challenge Rosell for the presidency. I would vote for Laporta all day any day... (But the finances need to be sorted out, I like the fact that we are lowering the debt last couple of seasons :) )
