Saudi Pro League

Once enough quality players go there it will be much easier for Saudis to keep on going and other players to join. Talks about allowing them in Champions League too.

Like the MLS, where no one is watching outside Americans bar highlights, the Saudi League will be the same.

The visual isn't there, and half the players are NPC's.

Sure if your an expat or a local, then It will be fun to catch a game if you live there, atleast you won't get bags of piss thrown on you like in Indonesia, but for the rest of us it will hardly build any attachment.

Hell, some of the old people I've spoken too think Ronaldo signed for Al Qaeda and Benzema for Boko Haram.

Folk missing the point... the Saudis are going to come for the peak players folk want to watch.

They are just trying to currently trying to legitamise the league a lot more and the players to do that with are largely names who will go for the money now at end of career and care less about moving away from Europe.

Next few years going to be chaotic. They wont stop and will go and get better standard and more peak players bit by bit.

Well yeah, Russia, China looked like they could threaten European football but that didn't materialise.

Could go either way but so far things look promising for Saudi League.

Are the Saudi's going to have no local players?

Are they going to allow outside investment into the other teams?

Or are each member of the house of Saud going to have their own team for shits and giggles.

Otherwise if it is just going to be 4 state teams doped then it is just going to be a glorified Johor Darul Takzim.

Lower teams are getting the good players that are replaced by PIF money. Good players from Africa and Asia. The league was always one of the best outside of Europe and Americas.

Saudis also have the advantage of being closer to Europe. Don't have to watch matches at 4AM as an European.

They'll never be in the UCL/Europa league etc.

So any player going there is going for money. Probably the kind of player who was never serious about the glory of football. I do get the money is hard to turn down though.

Find it ridiculous there isn't something in place in football to stop something like the Saudis deciding they want a new toy and completely disrupting the ecosystem in football. Seen people moaning saying well the EPL have done that.

The EPL has grown organically, through having lots of fans worldwide, brilliant marketing and also because english is heavily spoken around the world. Lots of other reasons too. The EPL has earned the right to spend the most money. The Saudis are just spoilt little boys playing with toys.

Al Nassr might be crashing out of the Asian CL in 20 minutes time.

Currently losing to Fake Al Ahli 2-1 at home.

Would be a very big embarrassment considering their spending.

Got to be honest though, what looked a stonewall pen on Ronaldo at 1-1 not given. No VAR, ref 5 yards away. Weird call. Didn't realize Florentino's influence spread so far.
