Bartomeu really fucked us over by the awful contract he gave to Griezmann. We can't get rid of him because of his age and salary. No other teams are prepared to take a gamble on that. I doubt that Griezmann wants to drop his salary down too much for any other team besides Atletico.

Someone who regularly drives a rolls Royce cullinan to practice, isn't the type who is trying to lower his salary, he is too much if a douce for that.

How are we going to offload Griezmann now?

More teams will get interested later in the window.
Greasy Griezy knows he is transfer-listed,
he also knows that there is 0% chance he is staying on his current wages
*IF* he stays, that will be on more than 50% paycut like Messi, Pique, and the ones to follow (Busi, Roberto, Alba)

He knows all that, and he played his little dirty game to engineer a move to his favorite destination.
Too bad for him that Laporta is not that dumb and did not get outsmarted by Simeone and the Atleti hierarchy

The problem is, you can't force him to take a 50% reduction. He'll probably get his legal team involved if that happens.

- The Saul-Griezmann deal is dead. Laporta and Mateu Alemany refuse a deal that Atletico Madrid will not pay.

- Griezmann wants to return to Atletico, but he does not rule out moving to the Premier-League or Italy.

You can't unilaterally decice 50% reduction, but there is power play involved, and clubs have the power to force certain things on players.

Especially with the reduction being widespread in the squad, with all the club legends taking a 50% reduction, and let me repeat this once more with
the greatest maybe ever player plaid for Barca renewing with 50% salary reduction.

On the moral side of things, greasy Griezy will look an outcast and an utter idiot if he insists on his current salary.
Club can take advantage of that.
It's a power play as well on all fronts.

No club on the planet has the power to force a player to take even a 1% pay cut if the player doesn't want to.

Barcelona cannot register Messi unless we move on from Griezmann's albatross wages.

We don't have time to wait until the end of the window, and it will just give us even less leverage than we have right now.

If Griezmann wasn't with 72ME in the books he would be gone by now. And hence the need for a swap. At least that's what I firmly believe.

I doubt we care that much about the 72M loss. FFP is almost dead atm and seeing City getting away with it, it won't be a worry.
Even if he is 72M loss on books, if we can spread it over length of his contract then we saved even more from his salary (on the books)

Would be happy if that didn't mean we have to watch Griezmann another season. On a positive note, if we can't register Messi then Griezmann might do okay.

Now watch Laporta sell Griezmann to City for 80M :worthy:
