Sergi Roberto: “My goal is probably the most important one I’ve scored, because we were behind and it allowed us to tie the game.”

Sergi Roberto: “At this start of this season, I'm having more minutes. I feel great and I try to give everything to the team.”

Looked at the MoM votes and he's locked to win.
Barca visit in Seville will be his hardest test yet now that Iniesta is injured.

Excellent match of him today, he really changed things around for us. He kept it relatively simple, keeping our momentum going and making the right choices in and out of possession. I never expected him to be so important for us! Looked solid at rb in earlier matches too.

It's somewhat surprising to say so, but after Busi, Iniesta, and Messi, he's probably the most technical player for Barça right now.
(a step ahead of Pique, Alves, and Alba).

Reading this Thread from the Beginning and this piece Came from an article from a 2010 Post.

Barca Atletic coach Luis Enrique has found a real gem in Barca Atletic midfielder and Spanish youth international Sergi Roberto (18), to help lead his team towards the play-off’s for the second division. The player, who has just turned 18, has become a main stay of the reserves although in principle he should still be playing with Juvenil A.

Sergi Roberto started the season alongside players of his age group with the Juvenil A, but later he has caught Pep Guardiola’s eye while Pep was scouting the Juvenil A side and gave him the opportunity to participate in four training sessions with the first team. His progression then continued with a call up from Luis Enrique to join the reserves, Spain U-17 coach Ginés Meléndez then summoned him to the U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.

S. Robert began his career with his native club Reus in Santa Creus, he later moved to Nastic, where he spent two more seasons. When he was still a 14 year old plying his trade in the Cadet B’s at Nastic, Sergi received an offer from Barca to join the La Masia and the youngster did not think twice. The Cadet and Juvenil coaches at La Masia namely, Victor Sanchez and Javier Garcia Pimienta played their part in polishing the youngster, and made him distinguished for his versatility. Although his natural position is the attacking midfielder role, S. Roberto can also play as a winger or central striker with equal effect. Last year, for example, scored four goals in one match while playing as a central striker. Many at the Barca academy regard him as the successor to the legendary Luis Enrique who coincidentally is the current coach of Sergi at Barca Atletic. The youngster is known for his great skill, technique, physique, pace and passing all of which made Lucho so famous for.

S. Roberto recently signed his first professional contract with Barca until 2011 and will be part of the team of ‘babies’ a.k.a Barça Atletic, along with Marc Muniesa, Oriol Romeu and Marc Bartra. The youngster still resides in one of the rooms that the club has in the Nou Camp for their promising youngsters at La Masia, at the gate 81, living next to Albert Dalmau the promising full back of Juvenil A.

Besides being a wonderful footballer, Sergi is also an excellent student. Both him and Marc Muniesa are usually seen travelling together for college, by bus, with books under their arms.

This season Sergi began with the Juvenil A’s and, after debuting with reserves against Gava, left for the youth World Cup where he excelled with the U-17’s scoring a hat-trick against Burkina Faso. He returned from Nigeria with a slight discomfort in his ankle and reacquired his pace with the Juvenil’s before Luis Enrique put his trust on him again. Since the last game of the first round against Orihuela, Sergi has appeared in ten consecutive games and only twice have they been as substitute in the second half, an irrefutable proof of his reliability.
Lucho showed a Lot of Confidence in him 5-6 Years ago and still does.

So grateful and versatile player, any manager should be lucky to have him on his team. Another MoM performance from the kid, one of the few bright spots in a season, who so far gave us more injuries than actual wins. For me, he's my favourite even over Rafinha, even though he doesn't have as much flair, but he offers so much more in being relentless, versatile and all around great player. Having Barca's short passes style of play imbedded in his brain and heart doesn't hurt either!
:neymar:

Also, i wonder if now Samper's gonna get called up finally, since Iniesta's out too. If not now, then Samper's never gonna get the chance, i mean giving Gumbau the go-ahead was a silly and stupid decision enough, now hopefully he finally does call up Samper. He's gonna have to call up someone else from the B team i guess. Cause i believe Samper, along with S. Roberto can really breathe new life into this struggling and now injury depleted Barca midfield and carry us till January when Arda and Vidal can start playing finally.:p

It feels like the backups of our back ups would have to be injured before Samper will be called up
