Terrible defending by everyone especially Roberto and Busquets. I've always said these two are a liability in cl games.
In that sequence hat kind of defense Roberto needs to do to stop that goal attempt?
When division 2 player toying Semedo, they don't talk about that. But Roberto against a tier 1 player the fanboys are on full force

My God. The fanboyism is so toxic here. Using emotions rather than simple logic to defend your favorite player. It's understandable in some ways, but shameful nonetheless. Sergi HAS to mark Icardi tighter than that. Simple marking 101. Stick tight to your opponent and don't let the player turn when they receive the ball with the back towards goal. You can't allow a player like Icardi the time and space to control turn and shoot. Elementary stuff. Bob Always plays his heart out but his defending is criminal. Needs to improve there ASAP.

Oh my god, what a tragedy! it was a consequence of bad luck and mistakes, error of Busquets, shot deflected unfortunately by Piqué who arrives (with luck for Inter) to Icardi, Sergi does not defend well, Icardi is good at turning and shooting and goal between the legs of Ter Stegen!

I'd say pretty much every Barca player you can see in that clip deserves some of the blame for that goal. Roberto certainly did fail to save the desparate situation. That was a little period there of horrendous team defense. There have been quite a few of these this season.

People don't talk about isolated incidents like this one. Kane turned Semedo way worse than this, but the issue is that when Roberto plays teams go in that side a lot, almost insisting on him as if they know he can't defend well. Other teams instruct their midfielders to pass the ball to their LW, and then instruct that LW to force the 1 vs 1 against Roberto, because they know, based on video analysis, that there is danger to be created with good chances of success by doing that. When Semedo plays, you don't really see the other team attacking on his flank that often.
This is mostly down to Semedo being faster and stronger than Roberto. These 2 attributes make him hard to beat without some fancy dribblings. With Roberto though, you don't have to actually trick him, to win a duel against him. You beat him on physicality and pace consistently enough to create danger. This means that Roberto is exposed against most wingers in the game. Not just the likes of Neymar or Mbappe. Players like Willian, Cuadrado, Sane, Sterling, Douglas Costa would have trouble beating Semedo consistently, but would do that vs Roberto for instance to a worrying degree. Because they have pace and agility and this is Roberto's weak spot quite obviously imo.
