I think you are overrating both Samper and Grimaldo here, they are good players but they lack top flight experience and when we play so many important games they could come back and bite us. We didnt buy a proper RB because we wanted to give Roberto a chance at RB, a position which he had cemented with Vidal. We have a tendency to overrate players who are not at our club, we've always done this, and we underrate our own players aswell. In addition, we feel like all La Masia products are worthy and deserve playing just because they are from La Masia.

No, Samper would definitely be better than Gomes, and Grimaldo would have definitely been better than Adriano, experience or not.

Can you or anyone else name one single quality that Gomes has over Samper? Because at least Samper can pass.

It is the best for his development to play and start for Liga side. He wasn't going to be our savior if he stayed anyway, why not do the best for his development
Even if Gomes signing was wrong,it doesn't make Samper loaning a mistake. We will get better player next year and more ready.
People need to keep in minds all the players who were promoted prematurely like Bojan,Munir,GDS & Sandro. It was just too much for them so early and this affected their careers badly.

Well Munir was actually doing quite well, loaning him when we did made no sense at all, especially considering who we signed as his replacement. I wouldn't say his career was affected that badly tbh, at 18/19 he was always going to struggle early on despite the hype, but he was improving quite well.

I am talking about player development here,Munir replacement being bad doesn't mean he was doing well and I think we will agree to disagree of his assessment last year. May be from a team pragmatic perspective you can say that, but from his development POV he should have never been promoted so early.
I honestly think this was one of the reasons Lucho hesitated to promote players afterwards, you don't go from promoting players directly from Juvenil team (wasn't done for almost decade b4 him IIRC) to not promoting anyone at all in two years with no reason.
For Samper I stick to my point,I think we have done the best for his development in the past few years and taking things slowly despite the hype has protected him from the fate many players has suffered,he will come more ready mentally, physically and from talent/experience too. he will come with less hype since people have seen him play with smaller team rather than being promoted which makes expectations more realistic from fans.

Samper is again on the bench against Betis. Don't know why Alcaraz has started to play that 5-4-1 formation again in last weeks.

It's obvious this kid isn't good enough. He can't even be a starter for Granada. Unfortunately this is the reality and people need to accept that.

Yeah it's obvious the kid isn't good enough because he's not a set starter in his first La Liga season. Quite odd how you only pop up when he's failed to start for a couple of weeks but are nowhere to be seen when he's putting on class displays for them as a starter for a few months.

I know one. Being a better player. Gomes was a starter in Benfica, Valencia and Portugal NT while Samper struggles to play in the almighty Granada. You can try make Gomes a bad player has much as you want but the real problem for him is that we lack a gameplan and a coach atm.

So basically the only tangible quality Gomes has shown us is playing as a starter for someone else?

Hilarious.

Im not going back to this fight again. Clearly the la Masia bias is strong here. André Gomes has already shown he is better than his Barça's version. He is a consolidated La Liga player and a great passer and shooter, things he failed to show in Barça so far mainly Lucho's fault, or you think all our players are bad too?

A class displays? Yeah right, it was an average display every time I watched. He is 22 and he starts every now and then for 19th team in La Liga. A huge success! True Barca material. Lets install a kid who is not good enough to be a starter material for Granada to be our DM. That makes sense!

Some La Masia products are just not good enough and that is a fact whether you like it or not. Some people here just can't handle the fact that we have a huge problem with our academy right now. Except Alena I do not see any kid in Barca B who is good enough to be first team material any time soon. I would like to be proven wrong but I don't think it will happen.

And in the end I don't know what is on your mind when you say I only pop out when he fails to start? I don't have anything agains Samper and I would be more than happy to see him succed but unlike you I am trying to look his current situation realistically.

What makes you think Alena is good? All the reasons you can provide are the same for Samper - he showed sooo much potential at La Masia, but was never truly implemented into the first team. We need to give our young boys a chance to shine, else they never will. I'm all for giving him a shot as Busi-backup, we need to trust our own boys for them to grow.

Samper might prove to be an good system player for us, however with Roberto set to slot back into the midfield next season, I cannot see how he would get playing time here?

It's a sad tale really, and it seems like his downfall has been his 'reported' fragile mentality when Barca B got relegated. Perhaps Eusebio want him at Real Sociedad, could be person who can get him back on track again.

Perhaps it's worth a try to bring him back either way, but before that we need to clear up the midfield and sell a few players this summer.

Let's say we sell Gomes, Arda and Denis(or loan him out). Roberto will move back to the midfield and a CM is signed. Samper could be brought back then, but it remains to be seen what our plan for the summer is.

I don't think most football fans understand how important a system is to a player showing is full potential.

Put player A in one setup you see his true potential, but him in a next you see nothing.

That's all I have to say

Stay positive, kid. With Lucho here your time was never going to come, but since he's leaving you might just have a chance...
