Agree with @Barcaman.
It’s true that Dest has slowed down these past few weeks, but that is normal. You can’t expect a kid to have the consistency of a champion in his prime. Still he shows more consistency than both Roberto and Semedo have ever shown. It’s also good to remember that this current season is the most demanding ever physically speaking, as teams have been playing every 3 days basically since September, and Dest has started all those games cause he’s our only RB available.
Even with his current level he’s better than both those guys, simply by the fact that he’s not afraid to take on initiatives in attack and he has the skillset to remain a threat at any moment. Defensively, he’s not as solid as he was initially, to me he looks tired. But in his worst form, his defensive game is equal to prime Roberto’s. So there’s no argument here.
People need to remind that Roberto is a player who’ll have 2 good games (just good not even very good) then he’ll have 10 straight disasterclasses. Yet some here jump on the first occasion to criticize Dest.
I just hope Koeman won’t make Roberto his starter when he comes back. It’s a good thing that he’s coming back as Dest will finally get some rest, but he should be Sergino’s backup, not the other way around.
