The same players are doing exceptionally vs small teams with Barca too and are first in LL.
It's when the going gets tough they haven't delivered this season.

It's true, but LEs midfield setup is still just objectively better whatever the opponent. Spain actually looks in control against most teams they played in recent years, while Barca rarely does so. Not only Busquests, but Pedri and Gavi both play better under him, more involved, play goes through the center more.

The thing is Busquets can be the best player in every game then come on here and get slaughtered for one careless pass .

Did anyone watch KDB last night .. he was dreadful- his passing was so poor and got caught in possession more times than Busquets ever does .

Pretty sure everyone said he'd do well in the world cup because of the lower quality of competition and that teams generally try to stay compact and not concede. The sort of game plan Busquets is great for.

Results are there, but we rarely had control of the game in midfield, even against the small teams. Spain's current style of play is closer to what Barca played in their prime 10 years ago.

Busquets moved ball well.

It was a dream game for him when a team sits 442 and he has the space between those lines.

A few times CR tried to get closer to him but it meant either a striker dropping.. in which case Rodri was free to step up and be an option or if they dropped one of CMs on him then it left 2v1 for Pedri and Gavi.

Lucho had them on toast tactically and always had Busquets free.

As much as cant stand watching him for Barca would be delighted to be wrong on him for this WC and Spain go on to win it.
