This is an enormous problem with EPL fans. They seem to largely base their evaluation of Busquets on the handful of games they've seen in the CL. The problem is, though, that stigmas in general stay longer with their bearers than any sort of greatness they come up with.

It's an easy option to label Busi a diver, instead of watching us play and prove themselves wrong. Who wants to be wrong anyway?

Don't forget the stats. I've a friend who said Song ( while he was still at Arsenal ) was a better player than Busquets simply because he had more assists to his name.

I am probably the only one here who still rates Yaya higher than Busi.
Imo. he did a better job at the back and going forward and was quite comfortable at playing CB. Now, Busi gets a lot of credit for his tactical awareness and passing but Yaya isn't that far off (if at all) when you really look at it.

Tactically Yaya doesn't even come close to Busi..Yaya has other things going for him, but one of the reasons for City's failure in Europe is their midfield and the fact that Mancini gives Yaya the freedom that only Messi has with us.

Yeah. Busi being selected even when Yaya was clearly in better form.

That's not really true..I remember Yaya being bad in his last season with us.

Busi was Pep's favorite for more reasons than one. Yaya saw it.
And I can't say much against it as it's only natural to prefer the home boys.

So it couldn't have been because of the fact that Pep saw in Busi what many cules are just starting to see now, just like Cruyff saw in him..

This +1
Although Busi has been on awesome form the last few season and a better fit to the team overall.

If with Pep Busi was just another piece in our system(although an important one), with Tito Busquets is the system. Though there are still many that are saying that he only looks good because he plays next to Xaviniesta..but hey, if even these days we hear Evra saying that Messi only scores goals thanks to Xaviniesta and that Cristiano does everything on his own at RM I can live with those who preffer Yaya over Bossquets.

Anyone else thinks that he has improved from the start of the season? Maybe it's because he's happy to finally got recognition in Ballon d'Or shortlist, so that's extra motivation? Seems to have cut down diving and simulation also.

Busi always starts more slowly..plus I think he was tired after the last season and the EC.

Arsenal fans were also saying that Cesc was better than Xavi and Iniesta when he was their player and in the summer they couldn't understand why Arteta isn't playing instead of Busi with the spanish NT.

Cheers, good post. :D
And about the Arsenal fans, many of them want Arsene Wenger out, so you cannot take them seriously.

I've never liked Garry Neville very much, but now i have great respect for this guy. This was probably the best analysis I have ever seen, Garry will very likely be a top manager in the future.

Actually it wasn't that great of an analysis at all. It just took him 8 minutes to explain that Barcelona centrebacks are splitting with the fullbacks pushing forward and therefore taking a great risk playing it out of the back under pressure.

Nothing against Neville though. He's a much better pundit than clowns like Jamie Redknapp. It's just that his commentary sucks (mainly because of his annoying voice).

No, he stated much more than Barca playing at big risk. Just look at his observation of Benzema running tired ("look at his legs"), than Coentrao rage for not getting a ball from Iniesta. Something that people rarely notice. Give credit where credit is due.
