Sergio Busquets

He was by far our worst player. Xavi really needs to stop playing this guy every single game. He is a definition of a deadweight.

He had one glaring error that led to the opening goal but there's little else to be critical of from his game. I do believe a DM will need to be groomed as his heir but unclear whether Nico will ultimately be best suited to this role - perhaps Sanz?

Else Frenkie but we have to see still

I'd go one step further and say he's actually a negative asset. A deadweight would be akin to playing with 10. Playing with Busquets means you're starting every big game with a -1 scoreline, as he averages about 2-3 goal conceding fuck ups a game.

Regarding his suicidal press - he knows full well what he is doing. If he stays back to cover the space, he has to RUN and follow the runner across the pitch through to the end of the play. He goes in for those extremely aggressive tackles simply because he a)cannot and b) does not want to actually put in the KM's behind him. I think it is as simple as that. He can disguise it as 'aggressive' pressing when in reality it is cowardice.

I honestly can't think of any thing he does that we can't find a proper replacement for but can think of plenty of problems he creates we could eradicate with another player. He loses the ball in the most dangerous positions without any significant pressure from the opennents just because he is too slow to think. He tries through balls that come of about 1% of the time. The rest of the time his dangerous passes are missing the target by a mile. He is still good at fast close up pass trading but that's about it.
He is currently the No.1 player on the list to be replaced, in my opinion.

Xavi will sell FDJ and go for Roca from Bayern to replace Busi longer term.

Tell you on thing about Roca he can fair ping those raking passes to the wingers that no Barca player can.

Roca wouldn't be too bad, he's underrated imo. A bit Xabi Alonso-esque.

But of course people would complain we've bought a Bayern bench warmer.

Infuriating how exposed he leaves us. We’ve been soft in the middle of the park for eternity it seems. We won’t win another trophy whilst he’s in midfield

Anti-everything
Just wait for a game against some minnows where they sit back and give him time and space and all the drop kicks come out and act like he's still amazing trying to call those who see his flaws idiots.
His flaws have been apparent for years now yet we still persist with him in games that clearly don't suit him.

Just sign a true defensive midfielder and be done with it.

I don’t care if they lack technique. Our defense is so fragile. I would rather upgrade defensive stability while sacrificing the technical ability that Busquets brings. I would 100% try FDJ at DM in the interim though.

Roca has started to get decent game time. Goreztka has been out injured and Kimmich had covid, so Roca has played himself into favor.

I do like him as a player too.

It's incredible how much protection this guy gets from the club and coaching staff more than any other player despite his fucking failings.

The biggest failure in the Sporting Department is the refusal to adapt to the changing landscape and persist in the idea that Busquets is somehow irreplaceable and that no one can play in his position. He can't run, he's fucking slow and nowhere near mobile enough anymore and he's physically weak and he's also cowardly with the ball when the conditions aren't right and constantly leaves gaps as he is dumb enough to press up the field leaving our already fragile defense exposed.

For him and the fucking coaching staff, it's always someone else's fault and not his. Other players get the hook while he still gets to stay on the pitch, costing us goals.

Compilation of Busi being pulled out of position and giving ball away yesterday.

Looks like an old man with no clue how to play DM to protect a defence.

His skillset is indeed unique... as there is not a DM in world football would get away with that unique skillset blend of lacking any pace, unable to move properly and poor positioning.
